Hello what do you think of Leonardo Socrates? Too prentious? Struggling with what to put after Leonardo!

Leo is a great start.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/09/2015 04:09

Leonardo da Quirm. You could do worse.

Chottie · 20/09/2015 06:37

Please, please reconsider and don't saddle a child with those names.....

Booboostwo · 20/09/2015 07:19

Socratis (not Socrates if you are Greek) is in use in Greece although not very common but would seem weird if you have no connection to either Greece or philosophy. I am Greek and a philosopher and sadly DP vetoed both Aristotelis and Nichomaxos!

Onedirectionarestillloved · 20/09/2015 07:55

I don't like it.
I know someone who has Leonardo as a middle name and he is embarrassed about it.
Admittedly times have changed and lots of names we considered gross are now in vogue.

TattieHowkerz · 20/09/2015 08:07

Seeing as you ask, yes, too pretentious!

My first thought was that this was a spoof thread. If you are going to pick one name, I'd suggest Leonardo. Socrates is very hard to pull off unless you are Greek, even as a middle name.

tattyteddy · 20/09/2015 08:44

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm definitely going to bin Socrates.

It was DH who suggested Socrates and no not a spoof thread.

Leonardo is great and easily shortened to Leo or even Leonard if he doesn't like it.

Glad you've shown Socrates the door.

AuditAngel · 20/09/2015 08:55

It can be hard to find a name to team with an Italian one. DS is Valentino, we settled for Alessandro to pair with it, but put Alessandro first as it sounded better. Now causing nightmares remembering to use his "first" name for school/flights/doctors.....

horsewalksintoabar · 20/09/2015 08:59

Lord no. My son goes to school with a Michaelangelo and the boys are like "U wot M8?!!!"
If you're Greek then I might give you a free pass- maybe. Grin
Leonardo is lovely but if you're both from Bognor Regis with rootsroots spanning centuries in Chipping Norton, then errr, no.

TattieHowkerz · 20/09/2015 09:00

How about going super-simple (John, Jacob etc) for the middle name. It gives a nice contrast to Leonardo.

horsewalksintoabar · 20/09/2015 09:01

rootsroots? Grin
I meant roots.
Leonardo Blaise/Gustav??
No and no!!

munchkinmaster · 20/09/2015 09:05

Balonz!

MamaLazarou · 20/09/2015 12:54

I've heard it all now.

Nataleejah · 20/09/2015 17:11

Don't do this to a child. Fictional character or an animal, but not a child.

Oh do it. I like the ninja turtle first name followed grand greek second name thing.

I must point out though, my ds is called Raphael Erasmus.

Grin

We are not trying hard, pretentious or any of the above judgmental tripe Grin.

Realistically, nobody ever uses your second name. My ds in day to day life is just called Raf or Raffi.

tattyteddy · 20/09/2015 19:15

If I go down the ninja turtle root - Leonardo Raphael Michelangelo Donatello?

OP posts:
tattyteddy · 20/09/2015 19:35

Thanks permetstu, I really like Raphael.

PermetsTu · 20/09/2015 20:32

Leonardo Raphael Michelangelo Donatello is ridiculous and I feel you're taking the piss.

Leonardo Raphael Michelangelo Splinter Donatello surely?

Grin
thehypocritesoaf · 20/09/2015 20:34

Honestly, does anyone give a shit about middle names after week one?

No

Call him Socrates.

tattyteddy · 20/09/2015 20:40

Sorry PermetsTu, it's much better with splinter - that's decided it for me then! Smile

OP posts:
jeee · 20/09/2015 20:41

Honestly, I'd assume you'd called him Leonardo after dicaprio - which I doubt is the message you want to give out.

PermetsTu · 20/09/2015 20:54

In all seriousness, if you like Socrates, just use it. This is your baby. Nobody pays any attention to middle names anyway. I think it's super. Just don't forget to put Splinter in there somewhere.
