So I think we are pretty set on Elliot for our baby girl due in a few month, but what do you think of a middle name

Elliot Josephine
Elliot Louise
Elliot Lucy
Any other pretty suggestions, she will probably be referred to as Ellie

I like it. I'd go with Elliot Edith or Elliot Ann.

PallasCat · 15/09/2015 17:35

I love Elliot as a girl's name. Beautiful.
My first thought was a two-syllable -a name... maybe...

Elliot Rosa
Elliot Cora
Elliot Zita
Elliot Cara
Elliot Lana
Elliot Jana
Elliot Mona
Elliot Zara
Elliot Jenna

From your list I would say Lucy or Josephine. Louise to me is quite a generic middle-name, as Rose, Grace and May are. (Just to be clear - I do like Louise, Rose, Grace and May as names, but I know lots of people who have them as middle names).

How about Elliot Louisa?

MerryMarigold · 15/09/2015 17:43

I think I would assume she was a boy as I know a couple of boys and seriously considered for ds1 (I'm London) unlike Morgan. But when I met her, I'd think it was pretty cool. Especially with Day. I know a Sunny.

I like Elliott for a girl and think the following would work well

Elliott Nina
Elliott Alexandra
Elliott Frances
Elliott Eve
Elliott Bethan

Where are you, OP? There were 12 x Elliotts, 8 x Eliotts and 7 x Elliottes in the UK last year. Were the 770 in the States?

oneoldmare · 18/09/2015 21:25

I like Elliot for a girl but I also love Ellis, Elliot May or Ellis Victoria are what I would choose if I had a little girl now

BanjoPier · 22/09/2015 13:31

Yes SavoyCabbage I know that about Elliot from scrubs, but did you know there was something like 770 female Elliot's born last year?! I don't care if it's traditionally a boys name, like I said in my opinion it's very feminine sounding and it's my choice as a parent.

There were actually 780 boy babies last year called Elliot. There were only 12 girls named Elliot (Elliot boy vs girl) but as you say, your choice. I like it, reminds me of the little lad from ET.

charlie0123 · 22/09/2015 13:36

I have an Elliot - he's a boy. 99.99% of people will expect and Elliot to be a boy. I would imagine that will become tedious for your daughter over time.

charlie0123 · 22/09/2015 13:37

Oh and he was so called after Elliot from ET!

HeteronormativeHaybales · 22/09/2015 13:41

In complete agreement with BertrandRussell.
So many lovely, lovely girls' names out there and people give their daughters boys' names and surnames Confused

If you really must, put Elliot on the BC and let her be known as Lottie.

BastardGoDarkly · 22/09/2015 13:42

I like Elliot Elizabeth :) and she could so be an author with a name like that!

Strokethefurrywall · 22/09/2015 14:02

Urgh, Lottie is horrendously overused and cutesy - stick with Elliot, it's a brilliant girls name! We were going to call DS1 Dylan if he was a girl, doesn't seem to have harmed Dylan Lauren's career any.
Also love Ellis for a girl too, I think they are very refreshing names rather than hearing the same old Olivia/Sophie/Isabelle names. Which are lovely of course. But very well used.

StDogolphin · 22/09/2015 14:11

Elliot Elizabeth

LemonBreeland · 22/09/2015 14:14

I love Elliot for a girl. I would probably put a quite feminine name as a middle name to balance it out.

DH wouldn't let me have a girl called Elliot.

tothefareast · 22/09/2015 14:16

What about Eliette as an alternative? I have a friend with that name and think it's beautiful

Clearly you don't care if your daughter finds it hard to deal with and is teased for having a boys name. Seriously it won't make you look cool.

Trooperslane · 12/10/2015 21:03

Do you need one?

Elliot is a family surname for dh and I'd use it boy or girl.

peggyundercrackers · 12/10/2015 21:22

For me Elliot is a boys name, always will be. People who meet her won't think ooh cool, they will think why did your parents give you a boys name, that's a bit silly.

MrsMichelRouxJr · 12/10/2015 22:00

How about Eliana instead?

Beautiful name, unusual but definitely a girl's name. Dislike Elliot for a girl, sorry.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 12/10/2015 22:12

I live in London and know tons of Elliotts. They're all boys.

threenotfour · 12/10/2015 22:16

Elliot Heather

Marisaurus · 12/10/2015 22:47

Elliot Annabel is pretty.

LittleBearPad · 12/10/2015 23:03

God she's going to get fed up wth people telling her 'oh I thought you'd be a bloke'.

Poopy22 · 13/10/2015 15:22

It's a unisex name no more weird than Ashley, Morgan, Charlie, Jamie, Blake, Kennedy, Cassidy,

Poopy22 · 13/10/2015 15:23

Forgot to add I know girls and women with the above names no one thinks they're men
