Popular names of the next decade: predictions

Names that you think are on the up and will continue to climb the name charts. A few that I would guess might:
Beatrice/Bea
Isla
Florence
Margot
Freya
Might have got that wrong! I'm sure there are also loads more. Just keep hearing them on new babies or names that people like for babies.

Thanks, all very interesting. I don't think I was very clear in my OP- I kind of meant names that would keep growing in popularity over the next decade, or even next few years. So there are quite a few names that I think will continue to become more popular and are already within the top 100 now. Personally I don't think that there will be a huge shift in naming fashion for a while- if you look back over the last 100 years, the style of name seems to remain the same for several decades, or a couple of decades at least and then changes dramatically- eg Joan, Pamela, Linda type names followed on from many years of quite frilly Victorian names, many of which are popular now. After that came 60s, 70s, 80s names, such as Sarah, Louise, Jane, Deborah, then Rebecca, Hannah etc. I'm not being that accurate here, just explaining my OP better. What I was trying to work out was which names that are creeping or leaping up the top 100 will be the new Ava/Amelia/Olivia- names that were in the top 100 but suddenly became the most popular names in the whole country to give your baby. There were plenty of Amelias and Olivias around before just not as many as there are now. So I was really thinking of individual names. Eg Florence: could that end up at no. 1 after climbing so far, or has it peaked? But keep the discussion going- it's interesting predicting the next shift in trend, probably more interesting that what I had intended to ask!

Next Olivia / Amelia?

Easy peasy.

Watch Erin & Esme. If they don't hit the top 10 I'll be amazed.

I can't cope in a world where babies are called Sharon and Trevor.

squoosh · 17/09/2015 16:26

Susan is lovely. Barry...............not so much.

BertrandRussell · 17/09/2015 16:30

You will. That's what names do.

My mother was talked out of using her favourite literary name for me because it was wierd and old fashioned and ugly and I'd get teased.

So I'm not called Emily......

Pandora978 · 17/09/2015 18:20

Oh for names already in the top 100 I would say:

Ivy, Willow, Martha, Sophia/Sofia (will definitely be top 10, if not top 5 soon), Elsie will be top 20, Eliza and Nancy. I'm surprised Lila/Lyla isn't top 100 yet. Oh and I predict Annie, Maggie, Iris and Penelope will be in the top 100.

For boys - Arthur, Stanley, Frederick, Albert, Rory, Isaac, Teddy, Elijah, Theo/Theodore, Dexter, Jackson and Austin.

mathanxiety · 17/09/2015 18:37

My parents couldn't agree on a name for me, back in the 60s. Mum liked Suzanne. Dad insisted it had to be Susannah if that was the direction they were to take. Mum thought Susannah hopelessly old fashioned. I ended up with another name altogether, suggested by an aunt. I am not exactly grateful to her. I wish she had backed dad.

Onedirectionarestillloved · 17/09/2015 18:44

I think for boys surname type names will increase in popularity such as Taylor, Tyler, Jackson. Also names such as Charles, George, Henry.

For girls flower names eg Poppy, Lilly, Rose and old lady chic Enid, Elsie, etc.

I think in around 40 years names like Deborah, Michelle ans Steven will be popular.

featherandblack · 17/09/2015 19:35

Imogen is really on the up.
