I like both. However I am concerned about people pronouncing Naomi NYE-ohmi when I prefer Neigh-omi. Any preferences?

I know two Leahs pronounced Lay-ah and one pn Lee-ah, so that could potentially be confusing too! Nay-oh-mee is the only pronunciation I've heard but I would pronounce it as the parents did.

When I was teaching I taught quite a few born in the late 80's 90's. Don't know any young or old ones

I'm aware that Leah is a Hebrew name. Jacob in the old testament was tricked into marrying Leah rather than her sister Rachel (who he also later married). That doesn't mean it can't be a 90s name however. The name Isla is Scottish but I'd imagine in 20 years time it'll sound very 2015-ish to an awful lot of people who live in England Grin.

I have a Leah - so it's a vote for Leah from me!

Naomi has always sounded a bit exotic and rarely suits the girls who are named it, in my opinion.

I love both these names. Naomi just pips it for me and I would pronounce i nay-oh-mee

ShamelessBreadAddict · 03/11/2015 21:02

Naomi is lovely. I would never say nye-omi but I don't mind it.

Yika · 03/11/2015 21:06

Both lovely but Naomi is lovelier.

msgrinch · 03/11/2015 21:12

Leah definitely. Never met a pleasant Naomi, I've met 6/7 and they've all been nasty. So to me it's an awful name.

Strokethefurrywall · 03/11/2015 21:31

Love both but Leah wins for me.

reuset · 03/11/2015 21:40

Yep, Leah bit late 90s/early 00s. In itself is not a bad name, but it's the similar sounding 'leah' names and variations on the spelling that spoil it for me.

So Naomi without question

anothernumberone · 03/11/2015 21:47

Love both. Love all pronunciations. I am not very helpful.

Secondtimeround75 · 03/11/2015 21:51

Naomi

SlightF0x · 03/11/2015 21:54
