Pregnant with dc3. Have 2 ds one with a very uncommon classic and underused name and the other with a fairly popular name (not sure why I told you that. Probably very irrelevant!)

Anyway. I have a short(ish) list and would like to gauge opinion. be as scathing as you like I can handle itWink. Any name suggestions are much appreciated.

Boys
Brodie
Adair
Rex
Kit
Bruce
Gus
Jude

Girls
Anna
Indigo
Estelle
Elizabeth

As you can see I don't have a type a such and feel all over the place!

I love Jude. I like all of your girls names except Estelle.

karbonfootprint · 10/09/2015 07:07

girls, I agree, Estelle is pretty, quite unusual, and distinctive. Elizabeth is great too, again with lots of options.

triathlon · 10/09/2015 09:32

I like Jude, Rex, Anna and Estelle.

fairyfeatures · 10/09/2015 10:31

Rex & Gus
Indigo and Elizabeth (but only if you promise to call her Betsy for short!)

Pipilangstrumpf · 10/09/2015 13:42

Augustus nn Gus
Jude

Estelle

are the ones I like.

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 10/09/2015 13:46

I only like Jude from your boy's list (but I have a good female friend called this, so I always think of it as a girl's name initially).

Anna and Elizabeth are lovely, classic names if a little dull. I don't like the others.

zippyswife · 10/09/2015 13:53

Thanks all for your honest opinions and relieved that they are on the whole positive (I know it shouldn't matter but it does). Still have a few months left to decide!

Love Jude, Rex and Kit from the boys and Indigo and Estelle from the girls!

lazycoo · 10/09/2015 13:58

Boys
Brodie - often a girl's name, nice for a girl IMO
Adair - depends on the last name but it's the best boys' name here
Rex - dog's name
Kit - is a NN for Christopher which is a great name but wouldn't call a boy Kit of itself
Bruce - quite like Bruce
Gus - short for Angus or Fergus - you'll get asked constantly, NN often Gusbo.
Jude - also a girl's name. Rude Jude.

Girls
Anna - Elsa and Anna - people will think Frozen Bandwagon
Indigo - nice
Estelle - love Estella, does the cadence of Estelle go better with your surname?
Elizabeth - boring

SmugairleRoin · 10/09/2015 17:05

Brodie - Home and Away.
Kit - don't really understand why this is popular. As a nickname, fine but not good on its own.
Adair - there was an NI republican Johnny Adair wasn't there? Also the name of an uninspiring town in Ireland (Adare).
Bruce - meh. Not keen on it personally but nothing wrong with it.
Jude - no. Ugly sound, and too like a nickname for Judy, or Judas.
Gus - meh, ok.
Rex - Labrador

Elizabeth - eh. I see it as unexciting, dull, seems popular here. It's a no from me.
Estelle - yes quite nice
Anna - lovely
Indigo - hahahahaha. No. A million times no.

SmugairleRoin · 10/09/2015 17:07

Whoops Johnny Adair was a loyalist paramilitary. Blush
I really don't see why you'd want that association for your child.

RalphSteadmansEye · 10/09/2015 17:12

Of your boys names, I like Gus, Kit and Jude best.

Girls - not sure. Not that keen on Indigo for a girl - I know two who are boys and can think of two boy Indigos in contemporary children's books. Doesn't feel like a girl's name to me.

Anna and Elizabeth are both quite boring. I prefer Betsy or Betty or Eliza and prefer Esther to Estelle.

Yika · 10/09/2015 19:11

I like Adair, Bruce and Jude. I like Gustave rather than Gus.

All the girls names are nice. Indigo could be unisex. Yes it is a bit pretentious, really, but if you can imagine shouting it repeatedly across a playground (I can - just about) it should be OK with a plain middle name :)

zippyswife · 10/09/2015 19:17

Yeah. I think I'd actually be fairly mortified shouting indigo across the playground but it'd be Indy for sure and I don't have s problem with that.
