I think we need an amnesty thread, for all our favourite baby names that the MN jury would inevitably tear to shreds Grin be brave, come forwards and share your contraband baby names!

If we have a DD2, she will be called Beckett. MN hates Beckett as a boys name so I just know they'll loathe it for a girl, which makes me love it more Grin

Agree those are more Telegraph/Times than MN approved!

manicinsomniac · 31/08/2015 11:40

I have a double barrelled first name which is anti-Christ on here even though mines not at all cutesty (isn't mae/rose etc) my parents just picked two names and stuck a hyphen in them

Really like Dylan!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 31/08/2015 18:06

My name is routinely slated on here (the hottest season) but I am used to it.

AwfulBeryl · 31/08/2015 23:28

My nephew is Dylan, I love love love it. I think it's a cool dudes name, not a naughty boys name. I've seen it described as chavvy on here, which seems mad to me. What the fuck is chavvy anyway ?
My kids have got a posh name and a dogs name Sad poor little fuckers.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 01/09/2015 01:46

Logan.

It's chavvy.

When DS was born 14 years ago no bugger else has heard of it outside of the US and Aussie soaps so I thought it would be a cool name to give him.

According to MN we've lumbered him with a name which has destined him to a life inside.

Sorry DS. Sad

Astralabe · 01/09/2015 21:17

Our boy is Ridley - always slated here but I love it

I rather like Addison for a girl. I'd never use it, my dad would disown me Wink I like Tennessee too. And Jackson for a boy.

None of them really suit my personality though, I do also really like more traditional names. But in my fantasy life where I live in the U.S., those would be my children's names Grin

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/09/2015 13:04

I seriously considered maximus for a boy. His dad liked Cody. We agreed on Nathan. He's 4 weeks old now. Still love maximum though. Maximus danger would be an awesome name Grin

Our girls name was Elizabeth poppy. I will never get to use it now Sad
We already have Bernadette rose
And DS1 is Alex. Not Alexander.

My brother wanted me to name DS2 kakarot or natsu

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 02/09/2015 14:21

DS1's name is:

  • unisex
  • a common word
  • a shortened version
AND
  • outside the top 1000

It is loathed on MN.

5madthings · 02/09/2015 14:28

Ds3 has a 'naughty boy' name. He is so not naughty, the golden boy at school infact.

Ds2 has a dogs name and Ds4 has a name that will mean he will forever be associated with gangsta and drug use according to mnet.

If dd had been a boy she would have been Emmett, which is derided on mnet.

I think ds1's name is Ok on mnet, he is a Theodore/theo but he has two middle names and a double barreled surname which is not Ok... Oh well.

notaprincessbutaqueen · 03/09/2015 12:43

Chelsea has always been a favourite of mine. I've loved it since i was a teen. I don't know about MN opinion but i know its not seen favourably by anyone i know.

KoalaDownUnder · 13/09/2015 15:49

I secretly love

Sasha
Summer
Mimi
Coco

And quite a few other 'stripper' names.
(Would frankly much prefer to be called any of these than the stodgy Bridget, Harriet, Beatrice names that MN seems to love)

PontyGirl · 16/09/2015 11:30

astralabe Ridley is divine

Heathcliff27 · 16/09/2015 11:33

We had guinea pigs called Poppy and Daisy Grin

I've always loved Scarlett, both my girls have red hair and I would have loved to call one of them that but DH wasnt keen.

PurpleSkyatthewateringhole · 16/09/2015 11:42

Finley/Finlay. Because Finn is the cutest and coolest nn ever. As is Max. I quite like Rory too.

My girls names are all mn approved.

NoStannisNo · 18/09/2015 16:10

I love Taylor for a girl. I wasnt allowed it in real life.either as it was too 'chavvy'.

MsJuniper · 18/09/2015 22:42

I love surnamey names and have always loved Logan - from the film Logan's Run. Also love Mitchell and Harrison. Very un-MN Grin

MaudeTheMopLady · 18/09/2015 22:56
