Hayden or Dylan as brother for Euan?

Hi
I'm 30 weeks tomorrow with a baby boy and we're really struggling to decide on a name!
With ds we'd decided before we even started trying!
The 3 we decided on were Hayden, Dylan or Jude, but have scrapped Jude I think now as we think it sounds a bit 'modern' (no offence to those with Jude's as we do absolutely love it!)
Anyway, our fave was Hayden but have always liked Dylan but it's become quite popular over the last few years.
Our son is Euan, so which do you think sounds better?
Our surname ends in 'son' (like Jameson).

We've said let's just wait until he's born and have a look at him but would be interesting to get other opinions.

Middle names will be John Phillip or Phillip John (doesn't matter which way). John as both my dad and FiL middle names are John, and Phillip as ds has called this one 'Pip' since he found out about him :)

Much prefer Dylan to Hayden, but both names are a bit similar to your other DS for me (two syllables, ending in -un sound). I think a one syllable name (like Jude) or a two syllable name with a very different sound (like Philip) work better.

Or if you're looking for other two syllable suggestions, I always think Gregor and Innes work really well with Euan - but I post those with the slightest provocation every time a suitable opportunity comes up on MN baby names (mother of DDs who never got to try out any boys' names!) so feel free to ignore!

Both are nice but prefer Hayden.

I know a Hayden and where we live, it always ends up coming out Aiden. Grin

Sorry, I don't like the trend for Hayden, Jayden and Kayden around here.
I too love Gregor, Innes. Love Angus too.
I do like Dylan it is equally as popular as Hayden around here though.

But I have an irrational dislike of Hayden/Aiden

See Hayden isn't popular at all around here (Midlands), yet Dylan is.
I don't like Kayden or Jayden either Ana!
Thanks for the other suggestions, but we've taken a while to get to here tbh.
Zachary was on our top list too (forgot about that one!) but recently our neighbours who we get on with massively moved in and their ds (a month older than our ds) is Zachary so kind of put us off!
We've spoken to a few friends and they think Hayden sounds more 'professional'. I think it really depends on where you come from in the country re names, popularity and how you like them hey?

I really don't like Hayden (sorry, just my personal taste). Dylan was on our list of boys names.

I have a Hayden. I love his name, but it frustrates me as people will say Aiden, or they misshear me and think I have said Kayden or Jaydon.

I'd avoid Hayden just because it's classed with Jayden and Kayden.

Dylan is very popular around here, and they do get called Dil.

Hayden is a very old name, and I personally don't put it on the same level as Jayden/Kayden at all.

I know a lot of Dylan's and really like Hayden so I'd chose the latter

My brother is Jude, after Jude the Obscure plus Jude is a saint so not very modern

What about Haydn - a legitimate spelling but not so close to Jayden etc

The sound of both is too similar to Euan (and you have that sound at the end of your surname as well) so I wouldn't go for either, or Jude (JJ). Angus is nice.

I like Hayden a lot and I wouldn't put it i the same category as Kayden/Jayden, etc.

There are hundreds of Dylans where I am.

I like the sound of Euan and Hayden and think both would go well with surname a -son surname.

We called our daughter a name which is very similar sounding to her fathers, if you call one of them, either the wrong one answers, or neither of them do, as they think you were calling the other. Think twice.

I have a Dylan - chosen by dh as he is Welsh, we are in the West Midlands and don't know any other Dylan's so not that common where we live. I don't like Hayden too much tbh.

I would spell Hayden as Haydn (am told it's the "correct" spelling).
