Breckin?

Struggling to find a name for DS2, saw this today and really liked it. It seems to go nicely with DS1's slightly unusual name and I think Breck is a cute NN.

Can't see any particular negatives although I'm aware it won't be to everyone's tastes! Grin

The only other I'm aware of is actor Breckin Meyer.

Just musing before putting it on the official 'list'.

Up here the chavs say breck for break, as in, I'll breck in his house.

Breckin wind etc.

StormBraver · 10/08/2015 00:09

I'd think you'd mispelled Brecon and you'd conceived during a camping trip in Wales! Sorry.

Quasilulu · 10/08/2015 01:08

I know a Cornish man in his 40s called Brycchan pr Brick-un. He doesn't get abuse as far as I know!

Noodle1234 · 10/08/2015 14:29

I really like Bracken, it feels more substantial somehow, and won't have the play-on-words issues described by previous posts.

Szeli · 11/08/2015 04:41

immediately thought "breckin necks" i think it opens your child up to a world of bullying more so than an 'average' name

Same as ludways.

Babylove2015 · 12/08/2015 16:49

I'm sorry but my first impression upon hearing that name was a chav parent in Asda screaming " Bracken, stop throwing food on the floor! "

BreeVDKamp · 12/08/2015 16:53

Breck sounds like somebody retching. Sorry!

Breckin Ball

LavenderLeigh · 13/08/2015 07:18

Bracken is a popular name for a dog around here
Breckin is awful

ZenNudist · 13/08/2015 07:24

Awful and never heard of it.

Sounds like breaking. I'd expect jokes about him breaking things.

sassytheFIRST · 13/08/2015 07:35

As a midlander, sounds to me like a brummie planning a day out in the Beacons.

"Off to Breckin for the day, ar"

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 13/08/2015 07:36

Terrible. Breck is just as bad. What about beck? Short for something or just on its own.

AlmaMartyr · 13/08/2015 07:42

I like it, thought of Breckin Meyer. I like Bracken too - I know a little girl called Bracken, very sweet. We liked Brock when I was pregnant with DC2. Didn't use it in the end.

mummy0bummy · 13/08/2015 07:45

Sorry OP, my first thought was "Beacons".

User595994944 · 13/08/2015 07:52

My first thought was 'brickin' it'. Then breckin bad, breckin wind...etc. Breck does, indeed sound like someone retching. All round a big no. So many nice names to choose from.

NoMontagues · 13/08/2015 14:51

Sorry to add to the negativity but the nickname Breck...

What will happen when you're shooing him out the door?

"Ready Breck???"

Glittery7 · 16/08/2015 00:03

There's your answers OP. Just don't.

Allstoppedup · 16/08/2015 09:00

Haha. There definitely seems to be a consensus.

It's largely why I posted! Ahh well back to the narrowly running out of time drawing board! Arrggghhhh. Stress!

What about Brock?

LavenderLeigh · 16/08/2015 10:01

You do know that Brock = Badger?

Burnet · 16/08/2015 10:09

Bracken or Brock would be better.

What's wrong with badgers?

LavenderLeigh · 16/08/2015 10:14

I ddnt say there was anything wrong with badgers. That is total projection on your part
Obviously it is perfect if you want to call your child after a woodland creature.
however, knowledge that Brock means Badger might change a persons perception of what they think is a nice sounding name.
