Harriet or Rosa. I love them both equally for a first name.

Love the flow of Rosa Catherine and Harriet Eliza though.

Or if I love them both should probably keep them both.

Surname similar to Platt. So which flows better? Harriet Rosa Platt or Rosa Harriet Platt?

Will this be your only/last child?

I know quite a few people who regret using up their two favourite names on the first!

marinacortina · 07/08/2015 14:41

Rosa. No contest.

Harriet always sounds a bit rattly to me.

marmiteontoast76 · 07/08/2015 14:42

Yes my third and last child.

Forgot to mention in post - the way I feel about Rosa is the way I felt about Eva ten years ago. Starry eyed. Is it about to rocket in popularity like Eva did? Not that it should really matter anyway.

I like names that work well internationally which I think Rosa does but not sure about Harriet.

Time to stop over thinking!

Harriet, can be hattie while young but also a grown up name later on. It may be just me, but I associate the name with nice people!

Glindathegoodwitch · 07/08/2015 14:48

Rosa is lovely. But I prefer Eliza Rose Smile

Hadmeathello · 07/08/2015 14:50

Love Harriet.

MameHootieBench · 07/08/2015 14:53

Rosa for me, because of your surname. Harriet 'Platt' sounds like a machine gun going off.

SingForBacon · 07/08/2015 14:53

I think Rosa is set to increase in popularity for sure, I know one 5yr old Rosa and two baby Rosas. I also know a Rosalind pronounced Rosa-Lind. It is a beautiful name though and it depends if popularity bothers you, I know it doesn't for many (and why should it, surely it is a good thing that lots of people like your child's name!!)

I prefer Harriet though. I love Hattie as a nickname.

CrystalMcPistol · 07/08/2015 14:59

Harriet Platt sounds like one of those formidable mono-bosomed Yorkshire women from Last of the Summer Wine.

Go with Rosa. So much nicer.

MaddieUK · 07/08/2015 15:06

I prefer Rosa!

DurhamDurham · 07/08/2015 15:27

I love Harriet, but I also like Rosa........I'm aware that's no help to you whatsoever!!

Sophronia · 07/08/2015 15:40

Both are nice, but I prefer Rosa.

IsadoraQuagmire · 07/08/2015 15:57

Rosa, because it's one of my middle names and it's much prettier than Harriet.

LibrariesGaveUsPower · 07/08/2015 16:29

I like Harriet a lot but don't like it with the surname. I think the t and tt sound odd together. Almost makes you want to say Harri-at Platt. Depends how similar the surname is.

So Rosa.Smile

Romeyroo · 07/08/2015 18:49

Also a vote for Rosa, it is lovely. I like Harriet but not as much. I like the nn Hattie, though.

Romeyroo · 07/08/2015 18:49

But maybe not Hattie Platt!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 07/08/2015 18:50

Rosa. I'm sorry, but Harriet sounds like a 90 year old woman.

confusedandemployed · 07/08/2015 18:50

I ADORE Rosa. But then, that's what I named my DD Wink It still gives me pleasure every time I say it.

I've never been too keen on Harriet.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 07/08/2015 21:29

Rosa. Harriets are everywhere.

marmiteontoast76 · 07/08/2015 21:35

Thanks for all the comments.

Love the machine gun going off one!

Was that what you were aiming for, OP? Grin

sweetpeame · 08/08/2015 22:01

I detest Harriet, it's boring and stuffy. Definitely go for Rosa.

MrsBungle · 08/08/2015 22:07

Rosa. I don't know any Rosa's. I'm really not keen on Harriet.

VerityWaves · 08/08/2015 22:12

Love Harriet , it has gravitas!
But sadly not with your surname.. Hmm
Rosa sounds like the maid.

Rosamund better.
