So I'm expecting DC2, all being well. Boys name is sorted. We are going for Leo.

I have always always loved claudia and he has always always loved Leah. I did actually agree to Leah if DC1 had been a girl but the more I think I about it the more I think it's just a bit common? I don't hate it but I have a vision of it being screamed across the park in an angry estuary accent.

I've also suggested tabitha, cara, Clara, Lara, lana, lots if names like that but none of them are the one. Names that end in a vowel sound are the best with our surname.

Thanks for any help!

I had Leah on the list for a girl's name for dd1 18 years ago but went with Ella, which wasn't that common at the time. I liked short names that ended in a- I also really liked Claudia.
I'd still now choose from:
Mia
Anya
Rosa
Mariella
Rosanna
Ramona

But more likely to have granddaughter than dd these days Smile

I really like Leah.

Caldini22 · 08/08/2015 06:52

Cecilia is really pretty and could always be shortened to Lia.

Junosmum · 08/08/2015 12:10

Leah means cow. I wouldn't use it for that reason, plus the several Leah's I've met live up to their names!

Cecelia is always shortened to Celia or Cece.

What about Ciara, OP?

MaudeTheMopLady · 08/08/2015 12:25

Love both Claudia and Leah. The only leah I know is a beautiful actress, a delicate, winsome sprite. She has made me fall in love with the name. Never met another one. What about Cordelia - (Leah for short!)

Northernexile · 08/08/2015 12:34

This is the exact situation we were in nine months ago! DC2 was going to be Leo if a boy. I liked Francesca for a girl, DH liked Leah. She is now Leah Francesca, so I'm obviously biased towards that name! We will never get to use Leo now if we have a boy though, worth bearing in mind.

I also like Lara and Cara OP.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 08/08/2015 12:42

Cleo or Chloe.

Kim82 · 08/08/2015 13:51

I have a Leah who is almost 11 and is the only one I've ever met. There are no other Leah's in her school. It's definitely not a "common" name.

Paddingtonthebear · 08/08/2015 14:04

I prefer Claudia to Leah. Leah was a popular name when I was at school in the eighties/nineties, there were three in my year.

Cleo is lovely. Do you like Freya? That is similar sounding, though mega popular now. Others that spring to mind.. Cordelia, Flora, Dahlia, Lucia, Lara, Lana, Esther, Victoria, Julia, Belinda, Melinda, Portia, Annalea?

I have a Claudia. Others I liked were Gabriella, Lydia, Amber, Valentina, Saskia and Charlotte. But you're right, when you love Claudia in the end nothing comes close. Sorry not helpful. Does he like it at all?

CruCru · 08/08/2015 16:40

Rosaaa · 08/08/2015 16:58
