I love the name but bothers me that everyone shops at Zara, including myself!
Do people like the name and would you be put off by the shop name?

I grew up with a Zahrah which is also nice.

sweetpeame · 23/07/2015 11:26

I like it. Wouldn't use it for one of my own but it's nice. The shop wouldn't put me off it at all, I like their clothes! Plus I don't think of the shop when I hear the name.

It's a great name , underused and feminine but strong.

barbecue · 23/07/2015 20:15

Yes it's a lovely name, which has been around so much longer than the shop!

Nolim · 23/07/2015 20:16

I dont like it. It is like sarah spelled incorrectly. Sorry.

AliAliAlium · 23/07/2015 20:44

I like it a lot. During my first labour a medical student called Zara sat in with me for the duration - she was lovely. So I have a very positive association from the only real-life Zara I've ever met.

RiverTam · 23/07/2015 20:49

I thought if Zara Phlips and then a woman who used to work at DD's nursery. Don't think I would have thought if the shop at all. It's not like you're calling her Hennes.

Love Zara :-)

berryblueberry · 24/07/2015 01:06

It's a lovely name, and means lots of lovely things in various languages... If we were having a girl it would be on my list Smile
Who cares about the shop!

BothEndsBurning · 24/07/2015 12:11

I'd guess that at least 50% of the population are unaware of the shop Wink

Yarp · 24/07/2015 12:11

I don't like it, sorry.

I think it's the Z - it's a bit 1970s

I prefer Lara or Cara or Sara

morethanpotatoprints · 24/07/2015 12:15

I love the name, but this may not worry you too much I dunno.
My dd had a 2 school friends called Zara and Zoe and they were always complaining they were last on the list for everything at school and their after school activities

Munchkin08 · 24/07/2015 12:18

I like the name, didn't think of the shop.
I know 2 Zara's one 14 & one 17

AnneOfAramis · 24/07/2015 12:18

My name is a foreign variation of Zara spelt similarly to some already mentioned and because my mum can't pronounce it I have always been called Zara by everyone who knew me before adulthood. So, I like it.

I dont like it. It is like sarah spelled incorrectly. Sorry.
Except spelling is indicative of origins so somewhere it is spelt correctly. Zara and Sarah also sound different.

Nolim · 24/07/2015 13:11

Zara and Sarah also sound different
Really? I had no idea.

Yarp · 24/07/2015 13:15

Nolim

Yes

Sarah is pronounced S-AIR-UH

Sara and Zara rhyme (S-AR-UH)
