Have a James....can I have a George? Help before I kill DH

DH and I generally get along very harmoniously.....apart from when it comes to choosing baby names. Angry

We have a DS - 2 and a DD - 1 and are expecting DC3 in November.

DS is James and DD has an E name.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this baby is also a boy. One of the few names we can agree on for a boy is George.

However, I'm a bit worried that this will sound too similar to James - particularly bearing in mind the very close age gap.

Any thought prepares for the brutal onslaught! or alternatives? We are quite boring and classic but have a good two syllable surname that most names go with

I know 2 sets of James and Georges. No other siblings either. I don't think they are too similar. Noit like the siblings Ive heard of - Ffion & Finn and Ellis and Isla that are like tongue twisters.

I'm not being sarcastic. You said you were baffled by my question and told me they began with the same sound and not the same letter. I was clarifying that I knew they didn't start with the same letter in an attempt to address your bafflement (and anyone else who might be reading)

My question was whether they sounded too similar.

Don't know why you bothered asking then. It's pretty obvious that the two names don't sound similar. Most people have offered you the same advice.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 20/07/2015 11:05

They have a similar sounding initial - that is the concern. Hope that has clarified things

Ffion & Finn? My teeth nearly came out trying to say that!

Actually, I like Fionnula for a girl but DH has vetoed that (not on the basis that it sounds like Janes!)

They both start with a "j" sound, not forgetting that George has a "j" later in the name as well.

Florrieboo · 21/07/2015 04:52

I can't hear any similarity between them at all, the first sound is pretty much forgotten about by the time you say the rest of the name. Totally not an issue to have one of each.

ch1134 · 21/07/2015 07:08

Together they make me think of Roald Dahl, and are fine. But if you and your husband also have 'j' names, I wouldn't.

Kahlua4me · 21/07/2015 07:12

My friend has a George and a James and her and dh's names start with J and G. Works well for them....

IsabellaRoarsome · 21/07/2015 14:19

I think your fine with George and James not similar to my ear and their both good classic namesSmile

Hellion7433 · 21/07/2015 22:58

Adore George

heylilbunny · 22/07/2015 04:37

If you have a dd Georgina is more of the classic route imho than Georgia.

Sezzlesez · 28/07/2015 14:46

I have a George James!

EmmaWoodlouse · 28/07/2015 20:55

I know two sets of brothers called James and George (one pair have some other brothers too, all with names of English kings!) I think they go really well together and don't sound too similar - the only thing they have in common really is having one syllable.

Mimigolightly · 28/07/2015 20:59

I think it's a lovely name and not too similar to James at all. Go for it and don't kill DH Grin
