Thanks everyone for your opinions. I don't mind the class assumptions etc although private school is way off.
It was to see if a lot of people thought the boys name thing as it's come up a couple of times so wanted to see if this thread was mainly that as a response. I feel comfortable if the odd person might think that now and again but I wouldn't want the announcement to be met with 'she must have really wanted a boy' that wouldn't be the case at all either way I'm happy.
But if people do think the boy thing please say as I want to make an informed decision.
Thanks for the input :)

I'd immediately think middle class (like me) too although to me that doesn't automatically translate to SAHM Hmm

I think both of those are very flexible names which will give your DDs plenty of scope to become what they want to be as they develop their identities. Good choices!

SylvanianCaracal · 12/07/2015 10:32

No, although I would make an assumption that you were quite posh, the boy thing wouldn't have occurred to me at all.

Pedestriana · 12/07/2015 10:37

I think they're very nice names and I would make no assumptions. I know a Georgia, a Georgina and a Harriet. None of the mothers had wished their girls were boys or perceived the names to be masculinised, they were names they liked.

reuset · 12/07/2015 11:34

Nothing, they're both mainstream popular names. Nice names, nothing negative. Middle class once upon a time perhaps Harriet, but too popular now to make assumptions.

Henrietta and Georgiana would make me add a 'middle class' tag'

reuset · 12/07/2015 11:37

Boy 'thing' didn't occur at all.

Wishful80sMontage · 12/07/2015 16:35

Thank you that's reassuring as I do love Harriet and think it sounds nice with Georgia . Thanks for the input :)

Didn't think of the boy thing at all. Nice names. I especially like Harriet.

EmmaWoodlouse · 13/07/2015 20:10

i think they are nice names that are a bit "trendy old-fashioned" without being as over-used as some of the others in that category. I'd expect to have quite a lot in common with you.

Twinkie1 · 13/07/2015 20:14

We have a Harriet and Georgia was going to be DD2's name.

Most of the posts on here would describe our family.

I've never thought of the masculine name thing.

4EverScottish · 13/07/2015 20:19

I'd think of Harriet the Spy as it was one of my favourite childhood books and that it was more unusual than Georgia. As for Georgia, I'd like the spelling better than Jorja which I've seen a few times recently.

4EverScottish · 13/07/2015 20:19

Oh, and in case it wasn't clear, I'd prefer Harriet.

4EverScottish · 13/07/2015 20:20

Sorry, posted in a rush and thought you were choosing between the two. I think they go nicely together and the boy thing wouldn't occur to me.

babymouse · 13/07/2015 21:30

They sound nice together like two characters in a book.
