A. Ken Lim
B. Jason Lim

Which name is better? Any comments?

Do they flow well?

Which name is more masculine?

All comments are welcomed.

Thanks

(Lim is my last name. Similar sound to limb)

Jason Lim is better. I think a name with more than one syllable is better with your surname. Ken Lim just sounds too abrupt and doesn't flow well.

BadHenry · 04/07/2015 06:19

If you're after masculine the Ken wins.

MadameJosephine · 04/07/2015 06:22

I agree with owl, Jason lim flows better

justjodie92 · 04/07/2015 06:24

Jason

MyNameIsSuz · 04/07/2015 06:40

I think Jason too. I think you already posted about this and you're 33? Jason is a more common name for someone that age (Ken, I think, would be 20 years older than you) and won't seem unusual at all.

CakeRattleandRoll · 04/07/2015 07:38

Jason works best with your surname.

TheCowThatLaughs · 04/07/2015 07:45

Jason is better

MamaLazarou · 04/07/2015 09:30

Jason.

You've got so many threads about this, OP! I hope you come back and let us know what you decide.

If Lim is your surname, have you considered going by that? i.e, 'My name is Lim - please call me Lim'?

kelda · 04/07/2015 09:31

Jason sounds a lot better. What about Jonathan?

Iliveinalighthousewith2friendl · 04/07/2015 09:33

Jason. Ken doesn't really fit. As it's a kind of rule with names. You don't put a short first name and a short last name together
The general is short surname longer first name
Long surname shorter first name

Sophronia · 04/07/2015 10:46

Jason Lim

nailslikeknives · 04/07/2015 10:54

Jason flows well.

Ken is always Barbie's other half! Wink

FoofItHigh · 05/07/2015 10:53

Ken is a 50's car salesman and Jason is a horrible dated 70/80's name.

James Lim would work better and sounds more professional.

FoofItHigh · 05/07/2015 10:54

Or Jonathan as pp said.

HaleMary · 05/07/2015 10:57

OP, you've started so many threads about this now, asking essentially the same thing, and not really seeming to take notice of responses. I forget whether you've replied to people asking you whether you have considered using your Chinese name? I have a non-phonetic fireign first name and surname myself, and work with Thai people with extremely long and complex Thai names, and we all manage...?

ScorpioMermaid · 05/07/2015 11:05

Jason

reuset · 05/07/2015 11:19

Jason Lim flows better. Two one syllable names is quite abrupt.

barbecue · 05/07/2015 12:25

Jason Lim

emjan · 06/07/2015 04:26

Thanks for all replies.

MamaLazarou, I did use Lim sometimes, but I would still want to get an English name, there are many people with last name Lim in Asia.

HaleMary, I did not start many threads asking the same questions. This is the only thread that has the name Ken. In another thread I asked for opinions about the name Jason, and I asked if my last name was easy to pronounce. I did answer the questions in other threads, I did reply that my Chinese name is not easy to pronounce if you do not know Chinese language. Roughly only about 10 to 20% of the Chinese words have similar sounds as English. You may check out this video to see how hard it is to pronounce some Chinese names: youtube.com/watch?v=cD63StcokZc
