Had Mack and Cory on our list for DS2 and DP suggested this today...

I quite like it, what do people think?

Great name!

Sorry it makes me think of Caramac, and not in a good way!

Not for me

I don't usually warm to funny Irish names, but Cormac is cool. Definitely the type of name they can make their own.

Not funny Irish names, just names in a language you don't speak.

Love it. A classic.

I love lots of names in languages i don't speak.
The implied pronunciation of many Irish names if spelled traditionally works very badly in English, though, and there is aversion to Anglicising the spelling, so they continue to work badly.
Cormac works fine written like that in English. Is there a different traditional Irish spelling or different pronunciation?

I adore Cormac, it was one of our two final names for our son and we spent the first 30 minutes of his life I the delivery suite trying out Cormac and our other choice on him. It was a very very close decision. It is gorgeous, easy to spell and pronounce. I think it was approximately 70th in popularity in Ireland last year so nicely known but not too popular, if that means anything to you. Go for it, way nicer and more substantial than either Cory or Mac; both these sound oddly Americanised and baby-ish rather than whole-of-life names to me.
