Middle name needed for baby Ned

HayFeverSucks · 19/06/2015 21:12

I'm expecting a baby boy and we have pretty much settled on Ned as a first name. Not Edward, Edwin, Benedict as a BC name... just full name Ned. I know it's not popular on here, and I know what the Scottish meaning is so not really looking for people trying to put me off.
What we do need is a middle name. Surname is 2 syllables so I'm thinking a 2, 3 or 4 syllable middle name. Have a few ideas but want to see if anyone comes up with my ideas and thinks they go well.
Thanks in advance!

Ha, first person to reply and one of my name ideas is suggested! What else goes well with Ned?

I immediately thought Alexander too.

Whatever your Grandfather's name was.

Theodore

Strangely, my first thought was Ned Ezekiel, but that might be a bit unusual! How about:

Ned Elijah
Ned Barnaby
Ned Joseph
Ned Gregory
Ned Timothy
Ned Alexander
Ned Patrick
Ned Oliver
Ned Alastair
Ned Christopher

HayFeverSucks · 19/06/2015 22:05

2 more of my ideas named! Just one more to go. I'm going to ponder the other suggestions for a bit now. I love names!

Thinkivebeenhacked I love that you suggested Theodore. When I named my LO Theodore everyone tried to make me reconsider but I didn't.

Ned Thomas.
Ned Lucien
Ned Patrick
Ned Victor
Ned Vincent.

I teach a Ned, middle name William. I think it's a lovely name. If you don't live in Scotland then I don't see why the association with 'neds' would trouble you. :)

I think you should use a longer, three syllable middle name to balance it out.

HayFeverSucks · 20/06/2015 09:41

My favourites (which have been suggested) are

Ned Alexander
Ned Barnaby
Ned Oliver (does it sound like 'Neh Doliver' though?)
Ned Thomas

Also on my list was

Ned Oscar
Ned Henry (not sure can use this one)

What do you think?

I wasn't born in Scotland. Live here as an adult tho, and that name would make my job tricky. It's not particularly flexible.

Where I did grow up it was a slang term for a pony or donkey as in 'neddy' or an old ned.

I guess if he spend his entire life in the South of England he'll be fine. But I'd pick a Middle name that gives him some flexibility but is fairly classic - Like Alexander, Thomas, Matthew etc

luckiestgirlintheworld · 20/06/2015 10:08

Ned is a great name. Think Alexander sounds best as a middle.

HerdOfRhino · 20/06/2015 10:28

Ned Dylan
Ned Solomon
Ned Jordan
Ned Conrad
Ned Martin
Ned Justice

Discworld101 · 20/06/2015 10:33

My first thought was Alexander.

Discworld101 · 20/06/2015 10:34

As long as your surname doesn't begin with D, F or G...

Zakken · 20/06/2015 10:43

Joffrey

twinjocks · 20/06/2015 11:05

Matthew

OwlAtEase · 20/06/2015 11:12

Ny first thought before opening the thread was Ned Alexander too! I think it's the best of all the ones mentioned.

ShimmeringCobalt · 20/06/2015 11:56

It's a lovely name!

I have no idea what the Scottish thing is about, so I just see it as a fab name!

VixxFace · 20/06/2015 12:13

I thought Sebastian straight away

HettyB · 21/06/2015 00:27

I really love Ned Barnaby...

HayFeverSucks · 21/06/2015 07:22

I think my favourites are Ned Alexander and Ned Barnaby. I'm not sure which I prefer but feel like with the first name Ned maybe I should go for a more traditional middle name like Alexander?
