How popular is Archie in London/SE/Kent areas

Thinking of calling ds2 Archie (would probably go for Archer as full name but call him Archie most of the time)...but was surprised to see Archie was in the top 20 boys names list for England and Wales last year.

Is it mega popular then?

I have never met a baby or toddler Archie round here (London/Kent borders)...

I live in the SE. 4 FB friends who are also in the SE have called their sons Archie over the past 2 years so to me it seems popular.

Quite popular round here, but not as much as it used to be. As I said to someone else, it's being fast replaced in the popularity stakes by Toby, Theo and Reuben.

MamaLazarou · 13/06/2015 19:59

Popular enough here in SW London.

SewingBox · 13/06/2015 20:00

Three of them in the primary I work in and I'm afraid 2 of them are regularly excluded and the other only stays by the skin of his teeth

I know you're not supposed to say such things but some names do seem to mean trouble. This is a very deprived area though. Maybe middle class Archies are different

BarryGoosey · 13/06/2015 21:10

Archer is a fab name! I've only come across one in RL, my boss's 15 yo son.

Are you a fan of the series Archer OP? Although that's the main character's surname. He's awesome! Grin

Artandco · 13/06/2015 21:13

I know one. He's 4 and full name Archibald

luckiestgirlintheworld · 13/06/2015 21:16

I spend a lot of time in Kent and London- I don't know any in Kent, and I know of one in (SW) London. I think you're pretty safe.

runningandjumping · 13/06/2015 22:22

Floralnomad · 13/06/2015 22:24

Quite popular as a dogs name in our bit of Kent.

bialystockandbloom · 13/06/2015 22:27

GoodbyeToAllOfThat · 15/06/2015 11:19

fleurdelacourt · 15/06/2015 11:29

LadyOrangutan · 15/06/2015 11:34

I meet a fair few Archie's aged 3 and under SW london.

Rhubarbgarden · 15/06/2015 22:25

I know three; youngest is four, oldest is about 12. Sussex.

Dixiebell · 16/06/2015 10:45

Two of them in my DS's nursery class here in Hampshire. 4 yrs old.

Rox19 · 16/06/2015 14:12

I know of 3 born in 2008 and 2 in2009.

Weirdly like the poster above, all of them are 'hard work' and 2 at risk of exclusion from school already.

Think Archie Alfie Ronnie names are quite 'naughty boy' names.. The Ronnie i know is constantly in trouble and had a reputation at age 6.

I don't know why or how this happens with names?

I think these names are the new gary, Wayne, Dwayne type names.
