Smith sounds Gypsy???
What does "gypsy" sound like?
Anyway, for those 3 definitely Arthur.

I trip over Josephs and Williams everywhere round here at the moment.

Sophronia · 10/06/2015 23:05

I like William nn Billy the best of the three. Arthur is very popular at the moment, and Joseph Smith makes me think of the guy who founded the Mormon religion.

Usernamesarehard · 10/06/2015 23:11

I'm going to be useless and say I really like them all.. Also love your dd's names.

DampAndRotten · 10/06/2015 23:27

They are all good!

My favourite is Joseph, but maybe it does run in to Smith a bit.

Arthur is great.

DampAndRotten · 10/06/2015 23:28

Oh, and I have no idea what up mean my gypsy!

Still struggling to get past "too gypsy".

Shock
Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 10/06/2015 23:31

Arthur smith. Gorgeous!

reuset · 10/06/2015 23:44

Too gypsy? Whatever do you mean, OP?

Joseph Smith. Isn't that connected to the Mormon religion (somebody will know). Hardly matters anyway, it's not an uncommon combination. Joseph is my favourite name for boys.

pieceofpurplesky · 10/06/2015 23:51

I think the OP may know some travellers .... Where I work we have a fair few travellers and many are called Billy ... But not smith. Also Johnny, miles and Patrick - but most people would not associate these names with gypsys I don't think - we have non traveller kids of the same name.

reuset · 10/06/2015 23:54

What's wrong with sounding like travellers?

pieceofpurplesky · 11/06/2015 00:03

Nothing Reuset, a name is a name ....

HarrietSchulenberg · 11/06/2015 00:56

I have a William. I tried to shorten it to Bill as that was my grandad's name, but he hated it and now, aged 12, insists on being called Will.
I don't really like Will as it reminds me of "Wiiillll" from Chris Evans, but it's his choice now really.
Think carefully about what he might shorten it to.

tilbatilba · 11/06/2015 00:58

They are all lovely but Billy is gorgeous

BeautifulStars93 · 11/06/2015 08:42

nothing wrong with gypsy I just cant think of a better way of wording what I meant.
Smith is a very common last name so I want a first name that isn't overlt popular so he/she isnt just another 'lily smith'

BeautifulStars93 · 11/06/2015 08:43

Harriet ..
Will is the one thing that puts us off. x

BeautifulStars93 · 11/06/2015 08:48

Also near me there is a very big not so pleasent family with the surname Smith who tend too use the popular names

OP posts:
Ohanarama · 11/06/2015 08:52

Arthur Joseph Smith. Done.

BeautifulStars93 · 11/06/2015 08:54

he would be Arthur Charles James Smith as all middle names are family names ans my children have two

OP posts:
reuset · 11/06/2015 10:35

So 'gypsy' means popular? Never heard of that before.

BeautifulStars93 · 11/06/2015 10:43

why does everyone on this site take everything too heart and try amd start a debate.
I mean chavvy/gypsy as Smith is a very common surname and I dont want my children too have common names.

OP posts:
reuset · 11/06/2015 15:07

No debate intended We were confused as to what you meant by not wanting the name to sound too 'gypsy'

I'm still confused actually Grin Gypsy means chavvy and/or common? Who knew!
