Not planning on using it (think the one currently under manufacture is another boy) but just heard this on the school run - what do you think?
On one hand I think 'Gaynor' but the more I think about it, the more I like it...

Awful :(

LetThereBeCupcakes · 09/06/2015 09:46

I think "Return to the Forbidden Planet"

Gloooooria. G L O R I A!

No. Just no.

favouritewasteoftime · 09/06/2015 09:55

I think it's a lovely happy name.

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/06/2015 09:59

makes me think.of that intern in scrubs. The one who JD tells off for waving too much. You abuse waving.

She's old and falls asleep alot.

so no.... sorry....

timelyreminder · 09/06/2015 10:07

I like it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/06/2015 10:39

I love it. Sassy, joyful, and unapologetic.

Great contrast to all the delicate Florences and Amelias.

sweetpeame · 09/06/2015 11:05

Hmmm, no, not a fan. Sounds old fashioned in a fuddy duddy way.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/06/2015 11:06

Awful, frumpy.

Sophronia · 09/06/2015 11:35

I love it.

PistolAnnie · 09/06/2015 12:18

Love it!

Jolly, happy, no nonsense.

Reignbeau · 09/06/2015 12:20

m.youtube.com/watch?v=3HGaJHhUJR4

Makes me think of this song.

Zzzsnatcher · 09/06/2015 12:49

I don't like it at all

Jemimapuddleduk · 09/06/2015 12:58

Like it a lot.

ChrisQuean · 09/06/2015 13:01

It's MIL!

dannydyerismydad · 09/06/2015 13:07

It was my favourite auntie's name. A fun, formidable, feisty lady with a sense of mischief and a fondness for the gin.

reuset · 09/06/2015 14:08

I don't like Gaynor, but I do like Gloria.

aoife24 · 09/06/2015 14:12

Yes, Gloria, G L O R I A: just can't help it popping into my mind.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 09/06/2015 14:21

Reignbeau beat me to it!

IsadoraQuagmire · 09/06/2015 16:17

It makes me think of Gloria Swanson, Gloria Estefan, and the wonderful Patti Smith track. It's a great name.

Discworld101 · 09/06/2015 17:22

I taught a Glory once, which I much prefer to Gloria, even though I would never use it myself.

EdithWeston · 09/06/2015 17:28

I think it's queenly.

Wasn't it coined as an honorific for Queen Elizabeth I? So very appropriate now.

Frenchmustard7 · 09/06/2015 17:29

Prefer Gladys

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/06/2015 17:30

Gladys! Shock

florascotia · 09/06/2015 17:33

Queen Elizabeth was Gloriana.

Gloria is said to be more recent: www.behindthename.com/name/gloria

Rhubarbgarden · 09/06/2015 20:04

I have always associated it with older ladies who wear dramatic makeup and dye their hair jet black.

I'm not entirely sure why, as I've never known a specific Gloria who looks like this.
