What of you think of this as a name? Came across one recently, and thought what a great name! And very unique.

If I have a DS3, think this will be a strong contender

Love it, but it's quite an eyebrow raiser - it was top of our list for DS but we chickened out. Glad to know someone somewhere held their nerve though!

sweetpeame · 07/06/2015 20:38

Hmmm interesting one. I wouldn't use it but don't necessarily dislike it. I do dislike Bart though, reminds me of Bart Simpson...

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/06/2015 20:41

I don't like Bart.

Tolly for Bartholomew?

But no, not keen. Unless your last name is Smith, which needs an astonishing first name.

Bluestocking · 07/06/2015 20:41

Marge: What about Bart?
Homer: Let's see. Bart, dart, cart, e-art. Nope can't see any problems with that.

CaTsMaMmA · 07/06/2015 20:42

lol... bluestocking , i came in to say exactly the same

ScrambledEggAndToast · 07/06/2015 20:49

A bit 'trying too hard' in my opinion. All I would be able to think of is Bart Simpson.

fionadal · 07/06/2015 21:21

Love the Simpsons quote!
Thanks all for replies

I LOVE this name but it really didn't go with our surname and I would hate for it to get shortened to Bart. I googled Bartholomew and found it led me to the name we have used which was 2nd on my list anyway (Nathaniel).

Bluestocking · 07/06/2015 21:29

I do love Bartholomew but I think Bart is just too risky! It's a shame.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 07/06/2015 21:32

DH's brother is Bartholomew (nn Bart). It seems like a perfectly normal name to me.

He was called 'Barty the farty' at school though.

Sophronia · 07/06/2015 23:10

I prefer Tolly as a nn for Bartholomew

Marisola · 07/06/2015 23:57

There's always Barry for short ... Smile

AtomicDog · 08/06/2015 00:07

Just as long as you pronounce it "Bartolemee" not Bartholomew".

AtomicDog · 08/06/2015 00:08

Ooh- yes! Tolly from Green Knowe stories Smile

SavoyCabbage · 08/06/2015 01:40

It's quite common where I am in Australia but because of the accent it sounds like the noise a sheep makes.

'Oh, here's Baaaaaa.'

User24689 · 08/06/2015 04:59

I'm in Aus too and know several here. two Barts I know arent Bartholomew though, one is a Robert and one is a Barton. I know a couple of others through work and not sure what their full names are!

SavoyCabbage · 08/06/2015 08:36

I didn't ever think that the ones I know might not be called Bartholomew!

owlborn · 08/06/2015 08:52

I love it. And Tolly for short is awesome - makes me think of Greem Knowe.

Minty82 · 08/06/2015 12:30

I suggested Tolly to DH when we were considering it as I wasn't wild about Bart, but not sure Tolly would be livable with for a boy over the age of about four! Love the Green Knowe echo though - although he was Toseland!
