Hi guys
Which do you like best out of the above? I really lke Christian but was thinking bit hard to spell and pronounce. Was thinking about putting Christian on birth certificate then everyday nickname of Cian or Ciar. What do you think and which do you prefer? Thank you!

Mmmm, pity but I think that's too close to have what is essentially the same name.
What's your next favourite letter?

villainousbroodmare · 07/06/2015 20:58

LMAO re George Foreman!

casey101 · 07/06/2015 20:59

I like K names. I don't nec like F names but I quite like Finn.

Okay, so there are no Irish K names as we have no letter K.
Except anglicised versions of the C ones like Kieran for Ciaran.
Any more letters that appeal?

casey101 · 07/06/2015 21:02

I also quite like Zachary/ Zac!

I love the name Caoimhe for a girl is there a male version of that apart from the one that sounds like Kevin? :D

Zachary/ Zac/ Zach is great.

villainousbroodmare · 07/06/2015 21:08

Caoimhín. Irish for Kevin. Pronounced KWEE-veen.

casey101 · 07/06/2015 21:10

Thank you you are being v helpful! What do you think of Caoimhin? Am guessing no one outside of Ireland would be able to spell it!

casey101 · 07/06/2015 21:14

Also what do you think about Finn? And how would you pronounce Cian- sorry for all the questions!

OP posts:
villainousbroodmare · 07/06/2015 21:20

I like Caoimhín but I prefer the feminine version, plus I agree that it'll possibly present problems outside of Ireland. It's definitely trickier than Christian! (I think people anywhere would manage Christian.)
Irish boys' names that are simple to pronounce and recognisably masculine would include Ronan, Brendan, Fintan, Finbar, Finn, Conor, Conn, Colman, Enda, Fergus, Lorcan, Sean, Senan.

villainousbroodmare · 07/06/2015 21:21

Finn's v nice. Cian also lovely and pronounced KEE-yan.

florascotia · 07/06/2015 22:02

OP I expect you've considered these 'C' names, but just in case:

Cabhan (Cavan)
Cathal (Ka-hal)
Calatin
Cillian
Caradoc (now Welsh, originally ancient British)
Carrig/Carraig (Scottish - but all part of the same language family)
Cluny "
Clyde "
Corran "

A different - Scottish - nickname for Christian might be 'Christie'.

Tangarine · 07/06/2015 22:09

I have a Christian, who gets shortened to Chris (which I don't like, but it's his name/his choice). What I dislike even more is that it gets lengthened back to Christopher Confused by people who don't know his Sunday name e.g. his music teacher Smile

gointothewoods · 07/06/2015 22:11

Cian is pronounced Kee-An

gointothewoods · 07/06/2015 22:12

But more like Keen generally..

StampyShortnose · 07/06/2015 22:30

how about

Keir
Keane
Caleb
Cadel

casey101 · 07/06/2015 23:18

Thanks everyone. I did think about Christie Flora but thought ppl might think i was calling him christine! I prob cant have christian thinking about it as my ex bf was called chris and i dont want christian to be shortened to that. I will have a think on different letters and maybe post a new thread! :)
