Hi guys
What do you think of the name Cayce for a boy and how would you pronounce it?
It's a celtic/ irish name and my son has irish roots. It's a real name and pronounced KC.
Thank you

There's no such thing as 'Celtic' spelling. The Celts were a race of people. Celtic languages include irish, Scottish gaelic, Breton and welsh. That spelling isn't any of those - it's just made up spelling of the Irish surname Cathaiseach

OP Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Cornish names are all very different - is there a particular style of name you like?

OP Irish names ARE 'Celtic'* names. The distinction is a false one. Very sorry if this sounds impolite, but there is an awful lot of rubbish on some baby-name websites, especially ones from America searching for Irish/Celtic roots.
I agree that spelling looks made-up.

*'Celtic' is a deeply controversial term among historians. But when used with regard to names and languages, it generally includes Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, Manx, Breton and Cornish.

Sorry to cross-post Sunshine - I hadn't realised that there were two pages of answers to the OP's question. It's very good to see that we agree about names - though many experts would describe the Celts as a cultural group, rather than a 'race' www.le.ac.uk/ar/stj/whocelts.htm

I would think it's pronounced "case" which isn't a name. And it's definitely not Irish... IMO it looks and sounds awful, I'd go back to the drawing board. The other names you suggested on another thread (Cian and Ciaran) were far nicer.

Lots of Americans seem to cling on to 'Irish/Celtic' roots that they attribute with great significance. They pick names that may be inspired by Irish or sometimes Gaelic names and americanise the spelling. Cayce isn't an Irish name as others have said and it would look like it was pronounced Case or like you were trying to be yooneeq with your spelling.

By Gaelic I meant Scottish Gaelic of course :)
