What's wrong with Adam?

I think we've decided on Adam. Just one last sense check please.... What's wrong with it? Hit me with your worst... I can't see any connotations/nicknames/random reasons that are too bad but maybe not thinking hard enough!
Thank you Grin

My Ds2 is Adam, love the name :) very popular here though (west of scotland)

sweetpeame · 03/06/2015 09:14

Nothing! Perfectly good name! Not uncommon but not very popular either. Think it's more popular in Ireland than here from what I hear from friends etc but that's probably of no concern to you!

IBelieveInPink · 03/06/2015 09:37

Excellent thank you. We were looking for a classic, strong, not made up, not too popular name. Sounds like little man has a name now.

Thank you all for the input

Great name.

SueGeneris · 03/06/2015 10:35

I like it, it was on my list for DS2.

Choccyhobnob · 03/06/2015 14:32

It's my DH name, been asking myself 'what's wrong with Adam?' for 10 years! haha Seriously though, it's a nice name, I wanted it as middle name for this baby but DH doesn't like his own name for some reason?! Maybe as there are loads his age (early thirties). It's much less common to hear on children nowadays.

Nice name, surprisingly unusual these days considering it's not really an unusual name. Go for it!

Orange6358 · 03/06/2015 19:17

I dislike it. I also dislike Elliot. No idea why

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 03/06/2015 19:20

I have a 16yo Adam... Not too many of them and it was an accidental choice....

Was really thorough in going through baby names books when I was pregnant - almost anal about it, created spreadsheet, deleted named used by family and friends, deleted ones either or both of us didn't like, then forgot my list of remaining named when I went into labour at 37 weeks Smile so sat in delivery room and remembered 1st name on list and that was that Grin

heylilbunny · 03/06/2015 19:58

Adam is a classic and very strong name. Also my DH's middle name and his grandpa's who was a fantastic character.

BikeRunSki · 03/06/2015 20:06

It has served DH well for forty years.
I also know a 30 something Adam and a 10 year old Adam. All of them have nicknames that are not based on their first names.

MrsHathaway · 03/06/2015 20:19

I have one.

The only thing that bugs me about it is that when his little brother or friends whine at him they call him Adeeeerm - I pronounce it Ad'm if you see what I mean but others put a definite vowel in after the D.

MrsHathaway · 03/06/2015 20:21

Any issues with initials? Adam Richard Smith?

Laska42 · 03/06/2015 20:23

My Adam was 25 yesterday .. still love the name and so does he..

Tomuchcake · 03/06/2015 20:29

Adi.... So cute :)

DramaAlpaca · 03/06/2015 21:53

Nothing wrong with it at all. I like it a lot.

Mehitabel6 · 03/06/2015 22:01

Lovely name.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/06/2015 22:09

Nothing. It's lovely.

BelindaBagwash · 03/06/2015 22:16

Nice name and easy to spell! Was popular about 20 years ago but less so now which makes it a good choice

IBelieveInPink · 04/06/2015 10:45

Thank you all. Decision made. Now just need to hurry up and pop!

Nothing, if you like traditional names. It's not for me as I like more unusual nanes, but we're all different.

Harry1511 · 07/06/2015 11:32

Nothing wrong with it. Just plain old boring.

IBelieveInPink · 03/07/2015 06:04

Just wanted to pop back and say thank you all for your feedback. Baby Adam is very pleased with his new name (and adorably squishy). Grin
