Just that really (and where you live). I love it, DH says it's v popular but where we live (somewhere in the wilds of the north) I've never met another. Thanking you xx

I'm up north and know of only one very sweet Martha, I think she is about five though so not a baby.

JacobWrestling · 28/05/2015 07:10

names.darkgreener.com/#martha

It's certainly on its way up but is still only #73.

I've been surprised by its 'marmite' status on here. Lots of people really seem to hate it, but I think it's beautiful.

Billynoname · 28/05/2015 08:01

I know! I think it's utterly gorgeous but I think that's partly influenced by knowing only lovely Marthas of all ages. I don't think that the name has a nice meaning but I love it's sweet vibe x

Love it. I teach and have had two in the past two years. Also know three or four in their 30s.

Zzzsnatcher · 28/05/2015 08:54

It's lovely name but there's a few at toddler and baby groups

Happyfriday · 28/05/2015 08:56

I have never known one (teacher here.)

FlyDragonfly1 · 28/05/2015 08:59

I know one Martha, she's 20; I'm in the North East.
Also Martha Jones from Doctor Who, but she hasn't been on screen for a long time so I think that association has passed.

Allthatnonsense · 28/05/2015 09:28

Slightly more popular in Wales for some reason, but very lovely.

I don't think that Martha will become the new Grace! We are going to use it as a middle name to honour a family member.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 28/05/2015 09:47

As far as I'm aware not very popular at all. I remember a bout 20 years ago seeing a little girl called Martha she had it written on her hair band. She was adorable.
Oh say go for it. It's a gorgeous name, so much more refreshing from those boring over used names such as Amelie, Amelia, Lily-Ma,, Isobel Ect

KenDoddsDadsDog · 28/05/2015 10:03

Up north and know a couple of Martha's. All hipster parents !

Sophronia · 28/05/2015 10:36

The only one I know is 23! I think it's a great name.

reuset · 28/05/2015 10:40

Top 100 for sure, no surprise pp has posted to actual popularity. Super name though. I think it's great.

reuset · 28/05/2015 10:41

Though I came across a Marther recently. I think it's sad the unnecessary tinkering of the spelling.

flopsy1974 · 28/05/2015 11:40

I have a very lovely almost 5 year old Martha. I have only met one other but apparently there are a few in the area that I live. I still absolutely love her name so I would definitely say use it. We are also in the north of England Smile

Billynoname · 28/05/2015 18:01

Thanks ladies. I really love it. My SIL tells me that where they live in a super posh, expensive part of London it's v popular but in my area it doesn't seem to be popular. I just need to show this to DH now to pursuade him it's not that popular round here. Thanks all xx

I know two. One is 19 and the other 10.

brimfullofasha · 28/05/2015 18:04

Love the name. Two of the last 3 girls I know that have been born have been called Martha.

LynetteScavo · 28/05/2015 18:09

All names I like shoot up in popularity....and I love, love, love Martha. DH doesn't though, which is why it's not DDs name. Sad So it may well become very popular everywhere soon.

(Think Ruby, Amelia, Imogen, and names which were not at all popular over 10 years ago)

Or it may not! Put your foot down and tell your DH it's the most gorgeous name ever!

Ipushedmygrannyaffabus · 28/05/2015 18:10

I know one Martha aged around 7 in the north of scotland. Since moving to the central belt and going to lots and lots of baby groups, I've never met another.

Gorgeous name. Love it!

applecatchers36 · 28/05/2015 18:16

I know 3 , one adult and a 5 year old and a 2 year old. Think it is increasing in popularity.

Zzzsnatcher · 28/05/2015 22:38

Yes increasing in popularity for sure!!

MrsTuppence · 28/05/2015 22:41

It's not a favourite of mine, but I know at least 4 Marthas of various ages - the youngest being nearly three. It seems to be very popular where we are in Scotland at the moment.

RhubarbAndMustard · 28/05/2015 22:48

I know one Martha age 3, in the South East. Very cute name.

lljkk · 28/05/2015 22:59

I met one age 7 today, only one I can think of. Gorgeous name & I told her so (was also cooing over her baby sister Grace at the time).
