Henry, Reuben, Joshua, Theo... completely lacking inspiration for DC2.

We're expecting a DS this time around and neither DH nor I can find a name that we love, much less one that we can agree on.

DD has a Shakepearean name which is classic, underused but familiar, and in general something we're very happy with. I'd love to get close to this feeling with a name for DS.

I had Henry high on my list with DD but it's extremely popular in our area, and the name of two of our friends, so I just don't think we can do it.

Surname is very commonly used, beginning with 'W' and three syllables. Therefore we can't really use 'Robin' after the recently deceased actor.

In theory I'd love a space/nature themed name, or another literary name. Otherwise, we're vaguely considering Reuben, Joshua, Max and Theo but I'd love some suggestions - maybe you'll think of something we haven't seen!

Thanks everyone! Some fab names here. Zing, I don't envy having to pick so many boys' names, but they're all fab Smile

Today I have been thinking about Rohan (more like Rowan than Ro-HAN) because it's nicely international (Sanskrit, Hindi, and Gaelic).

Thanks Shoot Smile
I think they are fab names. Michael being the least common of all of them atmGrin
(Seriously, he is 10 and we don't know another child his age or younger that is called Michael! And we know a lot of children, literally hundreds!)

I'm guessing your girl's name might be Miranda? In which case, I know a Miranda with a brother Edgar - I think these go perfectly together.

Of the above suggestions, I would probably avoid Theo, Max, Toby, Oliver, Noah and Isaac as they are all very popular - and, if you are looking for something relatively under-used to match your daughter's name, don't go for them! Josh has been popular but I suspect it is on a downward trend now.

Out of other suggestions, I think Corin, Gabriel, Leon, Rufus and Otto might all meet your requirements?

Otherwise:

Cillian
Miles
Sylvan
Augustus - Gus
Alexander- Sandy
Gilbert

Have fun choosing!

Thanks higgidy - she's not Miranda but that's a cute pairing Smile.

I like Sylvan and that's one I hadn't thought of!

Our DS2 is Emerson, named after the US poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson. If you like Edison, you might like that? A bit softer-sounding. DS1 called him Emmy when he was born, and we all call him that now sometimes, but sometimes use his full name. I love Milo and Theo, but those are my brothers' names (my mom was way ahead of her time as they are 32 and 29!)
