I wouldn't choose both Anne & Frank for obvious reasons.

Love Etta though. Maybe Etta-Anne?

diploddycus · 27/05/2015 05:32

Harriet is lovely and I adore Sebastian. Theodore is lovely too, I like your favourites! Definitely not Carolynn with two n's though, it looks wrong.

MuttonCadet · 27/05/2015 05:48

Harriet and Theodore or Seamus and Maude.

MuttonCadet · 27/05/2015 05:48

Harriet and Theodore or Seamus and Maude.

TandemFlux · 27/05/2015 05:55

If pair them as follows

Samuel and Amy (nice but a bit 1980's)
Primrose and Frank (both cool)
Frank and Maude (my utter favourites!!
Seamus and Etta (ok)
Alexander/Sebastian and Harriet (ok)
Theodore and primrose (cool)

TandemFlux · 27/05/2015 05:58

Anne would make a super middle name

ItsRainingInBaltimore · 27/05/2015 05:58

Etta is horrible and Anne is so boring.

Out of your list I quite like Maude or Harriet but I'm not really wild about any of them. What about Elizabeth?

I think Sebastian is a lovely name but not sure it goes so well with Stirling. It's a bit tricky to say them together.

I would go Maude and Frank.

Mrsfrumble · 27/05/2015 06:26

I like your favorites! Harriet and Theodore. Hattie and Theo Stirling both sound great, apart and together.

Twooter · 27/05/2015 06:39

Don't like maude at all I'm afraid. Reminds me of maudlin. I would go with Harriet and seamus, so you've each got a favourite.

MaudeTheMopLady · 27/05/2015 07:05

Maude and Theodore (teddy for short)
I like Annie and Frank as second choice

KoalaDownUnder · 27/05/2015 07:41

Love Maude and Seamus Stirling

bluewisteria · 27/05/2015 07:45

Etta is lovely, I have one, longer full name though. Lots of names can have it as a diminutive- Elettra, Rosetta etc.

I think as long as you don't have James as your son's name... Seam us you could get away with!

Do you like Laurence, nn Laurie? I think Laurence Stirling sounds fabulous. Very strong but Lawrence is also a softer long name.

Seamus and Annie
Seamus and Etta
Seamus and Primrose

I think Harriet/Carolynn jar with Seamus as first names for girls, as they are quite English... Maybe as middle names?

reuset · 27/05/2015 09:57

Maud and Alexander. Though I'd go for that 'maud' spelling, it's marginally more popular spelling than Maude for first name and saves hav ing to say "That's Maude with an 'e'"

fleurdelacourt · 27/05/2015 10:17

Quite a diverse list there!

FWIW I do like your choices: Harriet and Theo. Nice names and go well with your surname.

Maude is also v pretty though and would be v unusual?

Not keen on Ann, Amy or Luke. Would Annabel or Lucas be any good? More unusual?

Sophronia · 27/05/2015 10:41

Anne and Luke

Harriet and Sebastian

Etta and Frank

Carolyn and Theodore

Amy and Samuel

Primrose and Theodore

Maude and Frank

ThatDidntQuiteGoToPlan · 27/05/2015 11:14

Hate Maude, so drab and grey.

I'm not so keen on your girls names but love Sebastian and I would make it Alexandria for your girl. Both names will stand the test of time and not date.

Allthatnonsense · 27/05/2015 11:21

Primrose & Theodore.

I think that Teddy and Rose sound very fine indeed.

theforceawakens · 27/05/2015 11:25

Harriet and Theodore - I love both of these names but my DH's first girlfried was Harriet so we could never use it and he doesn't like Theodore but I LOVE it and would have gleefully used it for either of our DS.

Harriet Sterling
Theodore Sterling

Awesome names!

theforceawakens · 27/05/2015 11:36

*Stirling not Sterling! Sorry!

manicinsomniac · 27/05/2015 14:33

Girls:
Etta - love it. Funky and a bit different
Ann(e) - not keen. Very plain. Nice middle name
Carolynn - not keen at all. Seems very 60s/70s to me
Maude (dh favourite) - really really dislike this, sorry. Too Grannyfied
Harriet (my favourite0 - it's ok. Classic and elegant.
Primrose - quite like it
Amy - love it. Never too popular but a lovely, timeless name.

Boys:
Frank - not keen. Very old mannish to me
Seamus (dh favourite-PILs are Irish) - quite like it
Luke - not keen. Don't like the sound.
Sebastian - like it
Theodore (my favourite) - like it
Alexander - love it
Samuel - like it

I would go for Etta and Alexander or Sebastian and Amy I think

WankerDeAsalWipe · 27/05/2015 16:51

Harriet Stirling is a wee bit of a tongue twister I think though it is lovely, Etta is ok, Greta goes better.

Actually a lot of your names are quite hard to say in full (that might just be me?) I think it might just be the surname (I live there so not prejudiced against it :o )

Names begining with T seem to be the easiest to say with it or longer names. I'd maybe go for Theodore and Alexandra (stolen from the boys list)

BartholomewCrouch · 27/05/2015 17:13

Seamus and Maude are fantastic twin names.

getbusyliving · 27/05/2015 17:48

How about the more beautiful Henrietta instead of Harriet and then nn Etta?

My favourite from your boy names is Alexander, although have you thought about Augustus (Gus) perfect for a little boy born in August. I push this name on most threads Wink

TandemFlux · 27/05/2015 21:13

Henrietta is great. Also Gus Augustus

Marisola · 27/05/2015 21:24

I would avoid a name ending with a sibilant as it will collide with the S of Stirling. So although I like Seamus, "Seamus Stirling" doesn't sound well.

I think it's much more important that the name sounds right with the surname, than how it sounds with the other twin's name.
