when my first was born we loved it but every other child was called Lily/Lilly/Lilly May. I havent heard any in a while and wondering if the craze has died down?

Wow interesting and somewhat heated discussion about pretty name.

What about Lillian? Iliana?

It can be next door to impossible to find a name that either isn't popular or about to become so.

To give some examples I have name changed especially to share what happened to our choice of names for our 3 DDs

Evelyn - nn Evie or Eve
Florence
Eliza

All v popular and probably "tired" judging by the comments here but they are 19, 16 and 13 years old and know next to nobody with the same name socially who's not in primary school or younger.

I'm called Sarah and have spent my whole life turning round in supermarkets thinking someone was calling me! In my one friendship group we are known as Sarah P, Sarah C etc and "American Sarah" followed by "American Sarah 2". We couldn't use second names as most of us are Sarah Louise!

Will revert back to usual name now... Shame as I quite like Loumcdoo

I know 4 Lilys under the age of 3. 3 of the 4 are in DD's nursery group.

Yep, that's typical Lou. You have to be able also to predict trends in order to avoid future popular. I've lost count of how many people on here say "It wasn't popular when we chose it!"

You can sometimes see it coming. The same similar popular-so-called-unusual names touted on here and other name forums, lots of which are really on trend and obviously destined for top 100.

Lou is right. I have a 25 year old sister called Phoebe, born before Friends started.

You can never really know whats going to happen.

NealCaffreysHat · 27/05/2015 21:03

If you love it use it, I know 7 Lily's all under the age of 8 and yes 3 of them have May as a middle name. I am a believer of if you love it use it though so bugger it!

MagentaVitus · 27/05/2015 21:06

Do any of the Lily's people know have siblings called Ruby and/or Poppy? Falling over those sib sets where I live!

NealCaffreysHat · 27/05/2015 21:16

Magenta 2 of the Lily's I know have sisters called Ruby.

My grandma was Lily. I like it. The only Lily I know at the moment is a soft toy belonging to a close relative.

I know a Primrose, though, and that's a very nice name.

I have a name that was very unusual in the mid 80s and is now very popular (it's been mentioned up thread ) and I can't say it makes any difference because, y'know, it's ME.

I will never understand this obsession with having an unusual vs a popular name. Just pick a name you like and can imagine working on an adult, make sure the initials don't spell an expletive, and you're good to go! Grin
