Ottoline - yes or no?

I'm 35 weeks and cannot settle on a girls name. DH is just in love with this one and I am torn, on the one hand I love it (and it goes really well with our surname, a one syllable strong name), on the other hand is it too unusual?
Thoughts?
NN include Ottie, Tilly?
Thanks!

I like it

There's a lovely children's book called ottoline and the yellow cat

She likes writing stories, splashing in puddles and solving mysteries Grin

chillichoclove · 22/05/2015 10:10

Will check out the book! Thank you!

It is pretty......however it is not that unusual (from my point of view)

In the part of London I live it's as common as anything! Lots of Ottolines and also a few Ottos too round these parts

But who cares really? If you like the name then go for it! :) Do you know if you're having a girl or boy?

Jenda · 22/05/2015 10:13

personally I prefer Ottilie but think both are very pretty

Allthatnonsense · 22/05/2015 10:26

We live the Ottoline books by Chris Riddell.

FatWalda · 22/05/2015 11:34

It seems to be 'of the moment' and may date badly.

wesH · 22/05/2015 11:48

HELL no

chillichoclove · 22/05/2015 11:53

Interesting, what part of London? I'm southwest. I don't know any, I work with kids.
Scan suggested a girl but I think not seeing something rather than seeing something is less secure? I'm afraid to believe until I see her/himSmile

We also have lucinda and rosalind karina and esme.

Boys might be Christopher Dylan Finn or Alastair

I think we will just have to wait and see what suits when baby is here. It's so exciting. I can't wait!

Crap

Sophronia · 22/05/2015 12:57

Ottoline is ok, but I prefer Rosalind and either Christopher or Alistair.

Slugsandsnails2014 · 22/05/2015 16:14

We're in North London

Rosalind is more timeless I think, Christopher and Alistair are both nice

Alisvolatpropiis · 23/05/2015 10:35

It's okay but I think Adeline is nicer.

ChocolatePecanPie · 23/05/2015 20:21

Prefer Ottilie. Ottie/Tilly/Ots.

luckiestgirlintheworld · 23/05/2015 20:26

I love it. Not heard it before. Love Rosalind too

lljkk · 23/05/2015 20:56

Big NAY from me.

Anotheronesoon · 23/05/2015 21:00

Very sweet - I like it

dangerrabbit · 23/05/2015 21:04

Not a fan of the name, although the NN Tilly is ok. What alternatives have you thought of?

mika2 · 23/05/2015 21:12

Also much prefer Ottilie. Never heard of Ottoline so you might spend a lot of time correcting people - no not OttiLIE, OttoLINE...

DimpleHands · 23/05/2015 21:24

I also prefer Ottilie, which I think is really lovely. I know two toddlers with that name - think it is making a real resurgence.

Janethegirl · 23/05/2015 21:25

I don't like it, sorry.

soundsystem · 23/05/2015 21:42

I really like it

TinyMonkey · 25/05/2015 13:07

I know a baby Ottoline (nn Ottie), and it was on my original girls name list (we are in North London).

But I discounted it in the end because it makes me think of Otto the stoned bus driver in The Simpsons, and Ottie rhymes with spotty and potty.
