DH and I expecting our 3rd. Our others are called Elsa yes she was born before Frozen and Kian. We really like the name Tilney, I knew one other lady about 15 years older than I called Tilney and she was so sweet, but most people we tell about the name have been questionable. We think she will be called Tilney Elizabeth Rose Lastname Thoughts?

Tilney. Never heard of it, but that's a good thing in my book. The only thing is for me personally it takes a lot of effort not to pronounce it 'tiwl-ney'.

I love the name Tierney! Which is similar, so for me it's a yes.

diddl · 17/05/2015 09:13

Not for me.

It's a surname.

Sophronia · 17/05/2015 10:50

I don't like it, how about Tilly instead?

FatWalda · 17/05/2015 12:11

Sounds like a surname to me, like the Tilsleys in Coronation Street. Not good.

DampAndRotten · 17/05/2015 12:47

I'm not familiar with it and it sounds a bit like a boy's name to me... I may just be ignorant though!

Tilly is nice as suggested above.

GatoradeMeBitch · 17/05/2015 14:18

I like it!

GatoradeMeBitch · 17/05/2015 14:19

I like Tilney much more than Tilly...

Cassie258 · 17/05/2015 14:30

It's certainly not a bad name but I'd expect a few Confused responses from people you know.

I like it but wouldn't like to be called it myself.

switchitoff · 17/05/2015 16:03

I've never heard it as a first name. It sounds a bit clunky to me and therefore I would guess at it being a boy's name rather than a girl's.

I can see that if you really like someone who had that name you have a reason for wanting to use the name. Personally, I would use it as a middle name though.

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 17/05/2015 16:08

It's great middle name material. I think my response to it would be "what?", I'd think I'd misheard, and wouldn't how to spell it from hearing it. I expect it'd be mistaken for Tilly a lot too. So as long as you don't mind all that I guess.

Rose Tilney Elizabeth sounds nice.

Elsa, Kian and Rose go nicely too.

sweetpeame · 17/05/2015 16:51

Hmmm not sure about it really. For me it's veering into the "surname as first name" territory which I don't generally like. I think I'd assume it's a girls name but there's definite opportunity for confusion.

FatWalda · 17/05/2015 17:10

It definitely sounds like a surname, and I would assume that it was a family name, mum's or grandma's maiden name for example.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 17/05/2015 18:18

I like it, also like Tierney (as suggested above) and Ainsley and Avery
