I prefer Bethan I think. It's a bit Welshy-Welsh though.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 16/05/2015 22:29

Love Bethan!

Beth & Bethany are nice too.
Not keen on Elizabeth though.

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/05/2015 22:30

love the name Beth

gatlinout · 16/05/2015 22:31

I think of an Alanis Morisette type character when I hear the name Beth, does anyone else?

hawkmcqueen · 16/05/2015 22:35

Yes, I like it, I would be friendly and well liked and grounded as a Beth! That's how I see the name anyway!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 16/05/2015 22:35

I really liked the name Beth and Bethan, (not Bethany for some reason) but it's the OW's, exH's now wife's name so as put me off somewhat! Grin Very glad I had 3 DSs and no DD to call Beth, now.

SwedishEdith · 16/05/2015 22:35

N.. Think drippy as well.

MitzyLeFrouf · 16/05/2015 22:36

If I had to pick a new name to be known as till the end of time I wouldn't pick Beth. But if I'd been called Beth since birth I wouldn't have any issue with the name.

BamBam21 · 16/05/2015 22:39

I think it's a very pretty name.

gatlinout · 16/05/2015 22:41

My DD is Eloise and I would love to be called that.

Love the name, although I would use it as a nick name.

Elsbeth is another possibility.

AnyRailway · 16/05/2015 22:44

I know two Beths. They are both incredibly lovely and caring people. I think of Beth as a very special name, certainly not boring.

TheCowThatLaughs · 16/05/2015 22:59

My mum is beth so I am fond of it. I have known omelette of Beths as well
Not sure I like the sound of that Passme! Is it low carb?

SoldierBear · 16/05/2015 23:13

My beautiful niece is Beth and she is a fantastic young woman. So I love the name!

NadiaWadia · 16/05/2015 23:45

Yes, it's lovely. I think I would prefer to have Elizabeth (or Bethan or Bethany) on the birth certificate, though, as it is a bit short for a formal name.

Bettercallsaul1 · 17/05/2015 00:09

I don't see Beth as boring or drippy at all - quite the reverse. Like a lot of monosyllabic names, it is simple and strong. It is also pretty, with nice associations.

HearTheThunderRoar · 17/05/2015 00:22

DD (15) gets called Beth by a boy down the road but it's not her name and no where similar to her name. She absolutely hates it! Even though DD and the boy went to school for a few years and see each other regularly on the bus, he keeps calling her Beth Confused

Passmethecrisps · 17/05/2015 10:07

Grin thecow

Not sure what a beth based omlette would taste like

TheCowThatLaughs · 17/05/2015 11:35

myneighbourtotoro2 · 17/05/2015 11:43

No. I just think of Beth from little women and she really irritated me. It sounds a bit wet to me . I love Elizabeth though

mamaduckbone · 17/05/2015 11:44

I like it, and since I loath my own name I wouldn't mind at all. It would never occur to me that if rhymes with death - find that a bit odd tbh. My ds1's name rhymes with 'puke' but it wouldn't have put me off it!

MamaLazarou · 17/05/2015 13:42

Beth is drippy.

sweetpeame · 17/05/2015 17:35

Well I'm happy with my own name so no, I wouldn't like to be called Beth Grin. But as names go it's fine, a bit wishy-washy perhaps, but fine.

WildebeestH · 17/05/2015 19:07

It's so interesting how differently people react to names. Our DD is an Elizabeth, known from day 1 as Beth. I like the simplicity of it and imagine she'll be strong, caring, creative but down to earth. I'm yet to meet another little Beth and yet it's not an odd name.

megarobotdiscoparty · 17/05/2015 19:08

I longed to be called Beth when I was younger! Still really like the name.
