Im expecting dd2. Married to a French man and currently living in France....

I really like the the name Capucine but Im Not sure how it will be received in England. We don't have any plans to move back but you never know...

Do you think people will pronounce it like Capuccino minus the o?
Do you think it's just too French?

Ines is lovely.

Clementine is very nice too, but makes me think of the terribly sad song.

FatherHenderson · 16/05/2015 11:17

Ottilie?

MarmiteAndButter · 16/05/2015 11:24

I have a Clementine. Everyone pronounces it clement-een and not Clement-ine and nobody has every sang the song to her or mentioned the song at all and she's almost a teenager...
It's a great name!
I also love Manon, Delphine, Otilie and Capucine.

DH (a bit French) says its Cap-poo-sa Not cap-poo-cin but, I'm sure, the Capucin the I knew was a Cap-poo-sin. Confused. I hope I haven't been saying her name wrong forever. Blush

Your daughter will not thank you for it if she decides to live in England, for a whole host of reasons.

FatWalda · 17/05/2015 11:58

KPlunk Capucin is pronounced slightly differently from Capucine, because of the final 'e'.

blueshoes A host of reasons? Hmm It's mildly annoying having to correct people's pronunciation if they get it wrong, but that applies to lots of names. I can't see any other problem, it's a pretty name meaning a pretty flower.

Only1scoop · 17/05/2015 11:59

Monkey

blueshoes · 17/05/2015 12:00

I am afraid the monkey image not the flower comes to mind and I am not alone in that.

Feel free to disregard though because apparently you can only say nice things about names even to a poster who comes on here to ask opinions.

Only1scoop · 17/05/2015 12:03

My post is nothing to do with spellings.

Just my first reaction to the word ....name etc.

Eastpoint · 17/05/2015 12:04

We know one known as Capi - not a problem at all but we do live in London. Céline?

KPlunk · 17/05/2015 13:31

I have a hard to pronounce French name and I love it. It's a pretty name and I love the fact it's unusual but not made up.

I think Capucine is a really beautiful name. I wish I had called one of my daughters it -

Those monkeys are quite cute. I'm surprised so many people are familiar with them though, it's not as though they crop up every day.

aoife24 · 18/05/2015 21:16

or just too daft perhaps?

YonicScrewdriver · 18/05/2015 21:22

Cecilie?
Sophie?
Antoinette?

All translate well.

switchitoff · 19/05/2015 14:43

I agree that Capucine would create difficulties with pronunciation in the UK.

Really like all of your other suggestions and LOVE Margot!

Some other suggestions are:

Juliette
Coralie
Amelie
Chloe
Nicole

Clementine is my favourite.

Allthatnonsense · 21/05/2015 23:11

To my uncouth ears it sounds as if it could be a primate or on a Starbucks menu. Sorry.
