I like it - also like Nyree which is similar :)

ZombieZoo · 13/05/2015 20:51

Is it pronounced like higher ?
If So lovely

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/05/2015 20:53

We know one pronounced Knee - er. I like it, she's great.

MagentaVitus · 13/05/2015 21:07

Prefer Naya if rhyming with higher

verelab · 13/05/2015 21:10

I quite like it, but it may well be misheard as Mia, which is quite a trendy name at the moment.

lljkk · 13/05/2015 21:19

Hitcha Knee uh, didja? I dunno, I think there's nicer names.

Elllimam · 13/05/2015 21:21

I like it. Is it welsh? I vaguely remember a character in the snow spider books that was called nia

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 13/05/2015 22:26

I'd never heard of it before now but I really like it. Pretty but simple.

2boys2girls · 13/05/2015 22:30

Its sweet enough but its just another mia/kia/pia/tia/lea etc name

Icarustoohightofly · 13/05/2015 22:39

In New Zealand it's pronounced knee-ah and is the name of a three year old who was the victim of horrible abuse. So very negative associations there. Nia Glassie.

Sorry, that's what I think when I hear the name.

Allthatnonsense · 13/05/2015 22:50

Both are lovely names.

I know a Nia and she is clever, kind and beautiful.

sweetpeame · 14/05/2015 07:07

Quite like it. I've met 2 in my life - one was pronounced Knee-ah, she's early 40's now. The other was Nigh-ah, mid 20's. I think the main problem is that in both cases people weren't sure how to pronounce either version and both ladies ended up getting called the opposite of their pronounciation. I found it confusing myself at times to remember which was correct for whom. That would be my concern with using the name.

singlikethepianoMargot · 14/05/2015 08:12

I like it pronounced nigh-uh. I'd probably spell it Nyah.

ch1134 · 14/05/2015 20:02

Love it.

Alisvolatpropiis · 14/05/2015 20:18

I like pronounced Knee-Ah, the Welsh way.

Strongly dislike it when pronounced to rhyme with higher.

2boys2girls · 14/05/2015 20:22

Surely higher way is Nya though ?

yomellamoHelly · 14/05/2015 20:25

There's a Nia (and a Tia) in dd's class. She's a really sweet little girl. - So I like it!

reuset · 14/05/2015 21:54

Sounds fine and nice to me.

MaraThonbar · 14/05/2015 22:17

I like it. Very popular in Wales.
