I'm struggling with boys names.
Please don't tell me which ones you dislike and why. .. as I already dislike so many.
These are the ones I do like... which one could I grow to love?

Joel
Ray
William
Daniel
Edwin

Happy to get suggestions of others.
Thank you.

I really love Edwin, with Ned as nn when he's little. It's on our list but it looks like this one's a girl.

I like that it has lots of nn potential - Ed, Eddie, Ned, etc.

MrsNextDoor · 10/05/2015 13:44

I love Ray. It's super-cool...sounds so 1960s. I imagine a proper cool guy when I hear that.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 10/05/2015 13:50

Daniel
Joel
Ray
William
Edwin

In that order.

IsadoraQuagmire · 10/05/2015 14:15

I like them all except for Daniel, it's pretty common and I've never met a Dan I liked (though that's not at all relevant!
Ray and Edwin are lovely too, but you can't go wrong with William!
I'd choose Ray personally.

ch1134 · 10/05/2015 14:17

Excellent. Ray is back in the running.
I'm liking Dan and Ray a bit more since starting the thread.
Thank you all.

Ray's quite nice. You won't get many of those now. Not too keen on your other names just different opinions though
Here are some other suggestions.
Elliot
Sebastian
Gabriel.
Alan
James
Simon
David (people may assume he's named after our wonderful PM though, if that bothers youHmm
Jude. Again people could think after Jude Law or the song hey Jude both are no bad things to named after though)
Steven.

Clueing4looks · 10/05/2015 14:35

I love Ray, it's my dads name, but I would worry as it seems to be the new 'Mae'. In the past year I know of a Lilly-Rae, Alisha-Rae and Miley-Ray being born, and I'm only in a small village!

Mandatorymongoose · 10/05/2015 14:46

I love Daniel, it's DS's middle name.

I've always liked names that can be adjusted for the situation, Daniel for formal things / work, Danny with his mates, Dan for a special few. My DD's name is a bit like that and it's nice, somewhere between a pet name and her real name all at once.

DramaAlpaca · 10/05/2015 14:50

My teenage DS has a friend called Ray, it's very cool & really suits him.

Daniel is great as well, suits any age.

I get what you mean about Dan & Anna though.

Chottie · 10/05/2015 14:58

I know a 5 year old Ray and the name is fabulous.

LouisaB1990 · 10/05/2015 19:46

I love the name Joel. Very cute & masculine.
Suggestions
Gabriel
Jacob
Levi
Oliver
Parker
Sean
Cody
Obi
Hope this helps I'm the same with girls names I've got boys but very picky

verelab · 10/05/2015 19:47

Love Daniel nn Danny. Have just been reading Danny the Champion of the World to my kids, and Danny is such a great boy! A nice "literary" role model!

Joel would be my second choice.

Good Luck!

avocadotoast · 10/05/2015 19:53

We're considering William too... Well, DH is trying to win me round to it, I'm not convinced! I'm just not sure if it sounds a bit...wet. But then the more I think about it the more I think I might grow to like it!

Yarp · 10/05/2015 20:08

I also like Daniel and Ray

Here are my favourite boys names:

Asa
Evan
Michael
Patrick
Matthew
Levi
Malachi

ch1134 · 10/05/2015 20:52

Interesting. Some of the suggestions I can't use but like a lot (Louis, Matthew, Patrick), others I've considered (Evan).

Seb and Jude too, but they won't work for us.

I like Edwin. I wanted edison or Darwin for DD if she'd been a boy but both were vetoed by DP

tilbatilba · 10/05/2015 23:00

William

Mutteroo · 11/05/2015 00:27

Daniel is a lovely name. It's a close relative's name and so I couldn't have it plus I know hundreds of Daniel/Dan's.
William is the name of my non-existent DS2. Would have been known as Billy.
Joel is also delightful. A friend chose this name for her DS2. His brothers were Toby & .......Daniel!
Ray- had an ex with this name. Was never keen on it as it seemed old fashioned back then, but actually its a great name. Definitely a consideration in my book.
Edwin is my least favourite, however I don't mind it.

I'm sure you'll come up with the right name for your child & it'll suit him perfectly.

Yellowbird01 · 11/05/2015 00:44

Why does having daniel rule out anna?! I dont get it (we have both in the family and never a problem unless I'm missing something!)

My favourites are Daniel and William

ch1134 · 11/05/2015 06:49

Dan and Anna. Danananna.

Don't like Ray but I was around in the 50s and 60s and knew some strange and not very good looking Rays -so am influenced by that. As someone said-old man name but not in a good way.

IvoryMadonna · 11/05/2015 12:23

Nothing wrong with Dan and Anna. Hmm

Tubbytimmy · 11/05/2015 12:28

I like Daniel, But I think I'd go for Ray a bit more unusual now days.
