Surprise baby no4 - need some Irish baby boy name help!

Hi Ladies, I'm half way through a surprise pregnancy with DS3 (baby no.4) - and thought finding some names may help me get more used of the idea.

I'm Irish decent, so our first 3 children have the following names; Lorcan, Dervla, and Quinn. We've always gone for names that can be sounded out phonetically as we live in the UK, and wanted this name to fit in with our other children.

My ideas so far for new baby boy are:

Daithi (Gaelic - but has anyone heard of using Dahy as an alternative spelling?)
Torin (is this too similar to Lorcan and Quinn?)
Senan (again too similar?)

Any comments or suggestions very welcome.

Big thanks x

Senan rhymes with Lennon so the only way I could see someone thinking 'semen' is if they saw it written down and assumed it was pronounced see-nan.

Aidan
Brendan
Patrick
Fergus

Love Torin and think it would be fine with your other boys.

I don't like Niall. Neil is fine (yes I know they are said differently).

I like the name Torin and think it works with your other DC names. Love Senan, don't see how that's like semen at all Hmm

Cillian
Cahir
Darragh
Aidan
Ryan
Tomas

I also love Tadhg and think it'd sound great with the other names but its certainly not a phonetic name!

imperialblether no, I'm in Northern Ireland and know no welsh people :)

I have a Cormac. It is a fantastic name.

MitzyLeFrouf · 09/05/2015 14:48

I'm not convinced Torin is an Irish name. I've certainly never heard it before.

It sounds as though it might be Swedish maybe.

Malachi

I thing Tadhg sounds cool, as does Senan tho! They both look nice when written downGrin and go with the other kids' names! I would go for either xx

I am Irish...and can tell you that most Irish folk HATE the way English/American folk phoneticise Irish names. If you are going to give a child an Irish name, then give them an Irish name.

I have a nephew called Senan, it's a beautiful name!
