Hyphenated name to go with Zeb?

wowiesis111 · 06/05/2015 10:27

Our first born has a quite unusual name so second born needs something along same lines.
Partner likes Ziggy which I've said we will save for the dog!!
He's now on to Zeb. ( Zebbie when a baby)
Id quite like some suggestions with two syllables to go with it ....
Zeb-(such n such) Before a middle name.

Any suggestions ?
( I picked first child's name so partner wants more of a day this time ! Shock)

Other first name suggestions we've had are Rohan,
Josh
Jenson
Bobby
Max
Jackson

The full name is 3 syllables. Zebadiah. Why not just use that?

crapfatbanana · 06/05/2015 10:38

Or Zebulun/Zebdulun - there are other spellings.
Seb? As in Sebastian

I like Rohan. Rohinton too.

PrincessPilolevuofTONGA · 06/05/2015 10:41

Eddie? Grin Grin Grin

toofarfromcivilisation · 06/05/2015 10:44

Eddie

Sophronia · 06/05/2015 11:18

Or Zebedee nn Zeb? Grin

ohdearitshappeningtome · 06/05/2015 11:19

??

Allthelittlefoxes · 06/05/2015 11:21

Zeb is a shortened name, why not use the full version if you want a longer name? I'm sorry I really don't like it, and hyphenating it will make it even worse.

SoupDragon · 06/05/2015 11:21

Please go with Rohan or one of your other choices.

LorryHen · 06/05/2015 13:43

Ziggy is a dogs name but zebbie isn't?

I think hyphenated names are a bit silly, all of the names on your list are nice except Jackson though.

bouncingbelle · 06/05/2015 19:20

Instead of Zeb, what about Xav short for Xavier?

LynetteScavo · 06/05/2015 19:24

Call him Zebedee.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 06/05/2015 19:42

Im not a fan of hyphenated names, particularly for boys, but that said, I don't think that Zeb really lends itself to anything added on.

Ones I have come across are:

Tommy-Jay
Tee-Jay
Jamie-Lee
Bobby-Jay
Sammy-Joe
Tyler-Ray

All seem to have a very short 2nd name and usually a "y" sound at the end.

it's hard to get something with Zeb that flows

Zeb-Lee (too close to Zebedee? but that's probably why it sounds not too bad)
Zeb-Jay
Zebediah-Joseph known as Zebbie-Joe

IvoryMadonna · 06/05/2015 19:59

Just use one of the full names

Zebedee
Zebulon/Zebulun
Zebadiah

You could still have Ziggy as it's a pet name for Siegfried! (I used to know one)

wowiesis111 · 07/05/2015 08:34

Thanks ladies.
The more I read all your suggestions ( thank you) the more it's cleared up in my mind that I don't actually like Zeb! Now to try to convince my other half that he also 'doesn't like it'. ....
Difficult as I wanted this baby to be named from one of his suggestions as I named first born but most of his suggestions so far I'm not keen on !Confused
Wish me luck!

how about Zeke (Ezekiel) instead?

FizzyGreenWater · 07/05/2015 11:37

No, you have to agree. Just keep on with more suggestions!

There are loads of things with a 'Zeb' feel. Don't do the hyphen, by the way - so much cooler to have a short form taken from a brilliant off-the-wall full name you put on the birth cert.

Zephaniah (Zep)
Ezekiel (Zeke)
Sebastian (Seb)
Zebediah (Bez?)
Xander (Zan)
Xerxes (Zee, Zerry)
Jeremiah (Jerry, Jez)

You could also shorten to Ziggy from quite a few of the above if you wanted, or even something more trad like Simeon. Short forms don't have to be a direct contraction of the name. I think Ziggy is a cool nn.

SoupDragon · 07/05/2015 11:38

Zeb-Eddie was pure genius.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 07/05/2015 11:39

OP I am so sorry.... I read your list and my brain immediately switched the h in Rohan to a g to make Rogan Josh. Then I got distracted and couldn't think about names anymore.

Sorry!

20 weeks pregnant and clearly in need of a curry

OneMagnumisneverenough · 07/05/2015 11:49

if he likes the Z or X type of names there are some lovely ones, lots suggested above but also

Dexter
Zander
Felix
Zackary

or ones with a Z type nickname

Oscar or Austin - Ozzy
Isaac - Zac or Izzy

manicinsomniac · 07/05/2015 11:50

I actually really like Zebediah-Joseph/Zebbie-Joe as suggested upthread.

Hakluyt · 07/05/2015 11:53

Zebbie-Joe? Seriously???

SoupDragon · 07/05/2015 11:56

Isaac - Zac or Izzy

Not Izzy. That is a very common nickname for Isabelle. Do not give boy a girl's nickname, it would be cruel.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 07/05/2015 12:01

Hakluyt - I was doing my best to fit the brief, it isn't a name i would use but the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things and every person was called Jack or Sophie :)

PeterParkerSays · 07/05/2015 12:05

How about persuading him he wants Beckett, Beck for short?
