Apparently Jenny was originally a nickname for Jane!

Or just call her Jenny, which is a beautiful name on its own

florascotia · 28/04/2015 09:07

In the past, Jenny was also a nn for Janet or Jennet

reuset · 28/04/2015 14:10

Guinevere Though I used to know a Jenny who was really a Guinevere (and she did like her name, so it wasn't for that reason).

There's also a literary (I use the word loosely) example, but I can't place it at the moment

IvoryMadonna · 28/04/2015 17:30

Is it 'The Once And Future King"? It's spelled Guenever in that, and she is sometimes called Jenny.

Marcipex · 28/04/2015 18:08

Janferie
Jenefer

CarrotVan · 28/04/2015 19:52

Virginia, Genevieve, Jennifer, Jeanette

Lady84 · 28/04/2015 21:40

Thanks! Lots of ideas! I can't decide if Jennifer is dated or a classic... I like Imogen but its a bit trendy and dh thinks genevieve is pretentious ...

Jennet is the name of the woman on black!

Go for Genevieve, it's so beautiful and under used.

mammmamia · 28/04/2015 21:54

I also know a Genevieve who is shortened to Evie!

BikeRunSki · 28/04/2015 21:54

Regina ?

MrsLettuce · 28/04/2015 22:04

A bit of a stretch but, Renata?Renata > Wren > Jenny

Behind The Name says Jennifer is:

"From a Cornish form of the Welsh name Gwenhwyfar (see GUINEVERE). This name has only been common outside of Cornwall since the beginning of the 20th century, after it was featured in George Bernard Shaw's play 'The Doctor's Dilemma' (1906)."

So it is a form of Guinevere.

Also
OTHER LANGUAGES: Guenevere, Guinevere, Gwenhwyfar (Arthurian Romance), Jenifer (Cornish), Guenièvre (French), Ginevra (Italian), Gaenor (Welsh), Gwenhwyfar (Welsh Mythology)

ChristmasEveSteve · 28/04/2015 22:41

Wren.

reuset · 28/04/2015 23:06

Of course it's a form of Guinevere. That's why I suggested it. It wouldn't necessarily appear to be the most natural nick name to those who weren't aware of connection to Jennifer, hence my additional comments.

No, it wasn't Once and Future King.

IvoryMadonna · 28/04/2015 23:57

No need to be so snappy.

Jackieharris · 01/05/2015 07:08

Janine
