Sorry, damn phone!

As I was saying..Reuben is my absolute favourite boys names. I have no qualms about that. My issue is I'm unsure how the name flows with our surname. Alliteration in general doesn't concern me (my maiden name gave me alliteration and I quite liked the flow of it) however our surname is two syllables and is pronounced similar to rain-man. So he would be Reuben Rain-man. Is it too samey and just too much?

So both names start with R, possibly end in N, and have two syllables? I think that might be too many similarities, sorry.

My son has an RR alliterative name that's not wildly dissimilar to yours and it's perfectly fine. You virtually never have to say the full name out loud and I think a two- or three-syllable first name gives enough of a gap before the second R anyway. If he doesn't like it he can always use his middle name as well on the two or three occasions a year when he has to give his full name to a doctor's receptionist or something! Reuben is a gorgeous name.

If he doesn't like it he could even opt to be called Ben.

Hmm. I wouldn't.

It's hard to tell without knowing the actual surname, but if you like the sound of it, go for it. It wouldn't matter to me I think.
