Hi, so im nearly 34 weeks and have been through every single girls name known to man and still havent come across one that i adore, i finally found one that grew on me that i do like but i dont know if its too risky as it is a car!! The name im thinking of is Cleo, (even though the car is spelled clio) i wanted thoughts from other parents or parents to be, please be honest because this is going to be my babies name forever lol, i also found it extremely interesting to find out what other kids though and my 6 year old neice pulled a face and said it was weird, thanks in advance xxx

Love it. I think the name predates the car by quite some way and will be around long after the Clio is consigned to history.

DXBMermaid · 20/04/2015 15:59

I used to go to school with a Cleo and I don't think she was ever teased about her name. She wasn't a very girly girl (ikwim although I hate the expression...). If you love it, go for it!

Daisy17 · 20/04/2015 16:01

Great name. Listen to the amazing and beautiful Cleo Kaine singing jazz on YouTube..... ??

Daisy17 · 20/04/2015 16:02

Laine, blooming autocorrect.....

Archer26 · 20/04/2015 16:02

Love it.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 20/04/2015 16:03

I've only ever met one and love it

BackforGood · 20/04/2015 16:03

I like it.
It's been a name far longer than the car manufacturers used a version of it.

Ticks all my boxes - easy to pronounce, easy to spell, everyone will have heard of it but it's not overused, and works for a baby, a toddler, a small child, a teen, a young adult and an older adult. Smile

Tazxxxxxx · 20/04/2015 16:09

Awww bless you all thank you so much!! The more people say its nice the more i want it, thanks again everyone, xxxx

I love it! And I don't often say that on this board.

noddingninja · 20/04/2015 16:13

There is a Cleo in my daughter's nursery class - I think its a lovely name

BreeVDKamp · 20/04/2015 16:15

Love it, it's on our list! Not cutesy, works for a grown up, glam! The car doesn't even cross my mind.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 20/04/2015 16:17

I like it and my immediate thought was cleo lane or cleopatra not the car and DP has a clio and I still didn't make the connection

mrsmeerkat · 20/04/2015 16:31

I like it op but you could also go for Cliona (a well known Irish name) and shorten it. However it is lovely as it is.

Congratulations and best of luck with your new baby x

mrsmeerkat · 20/04/2015 16:33

Cliona is pronounced Cle - o - na

Tazxxxxxx · 20/04/2015 16:35

Oh brilliant, cleo it must be then, like i said ive been through hundreds and i came across cleo and liked it and dh said no at first but it has grown on him, and thanks to everyone on here i love it even more now, thanks everyone xx

Cliona is a lovely suggestion :)
Cleo is also a very nice name and I agree it suits all ages. It is easy to spell phonetically and easy to read. I never made the car connection until you pointed it out.

I don't think a child with this name would be teased and similarly as an adult I would think 'what a cool name'. Great choice!

SanctimoniousItches · 20/04/2015 16:53

I really like it. Zoe and Megan(e) are cars to so it doesn't matter really.

This shows my age but Marina was a car too. All sorts of names have been cars.

SanctimoniousItches · 20/04/2015 16:58

That's so weird that somebody else has suggested Cliodhna. I thought of using Cliodhna with Clio for short but I am in Ireland where Cliodhna wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

NadiaWadia · 20/04/2015 17:05

So does the Irish name Cliona (Cliodhna?) rhyme with Fiona, then? Always wondered this.

Cleo or Clio (or Cliona) is lovely, OP.

Flywheel · 20/04/2015 17:09

No Cliona does not rhyme with Fiona. Its pronounced Clee-uh-na but not much of an emphasis on the middle syllable

Tazxxxxxx · 20/04/2015 17:13

Good to know that the car doesnt pop up in minds straight away, not that it overly matters but you know what kids can be like! Obviously i dont want to pick a name that kids will tease but i do want some abit out there, i also adore irish names in general but being in england, they can raise an eyebrow, i wonder if my mum put this much thought into my name lol, i guess you just wanna do the right thing by your kids : ) love cliona too, cant thank u all enough xx

I shouldn't worry about the car, because you can't really stop a manufacturer using any name they want for a product. In time, the item will go out of production, but the name will still be there.

I think I read somewhere there were two families in France with the surname Renault (quite a common surname there I believe) and they had daughters named Clio. They sued the company!

Tazxxxxxx · 20/04/2015 17:17

Haha no way!! Thats brilliant, and your right i suppose, i dont know why it matters really, think its because someone i know went"err its a car" when i mentioned it xx

There's nothing wrong with Cleopatra either, though some people might think it's a bit OTT.

Tazxxxxxx · 20/04/2015 17:19

Cleopatra is a wonderful name, not sure im brave enough for that though : )
