Yes! Spelled like this....

I know mn normally dislikes made up names but this name can be spelled various ways, like Isobel.

Also I have a feeling its the kind of name you'd always have to spell out anyway.

The reason why I do not want to use usual spelling is because I'm not a Christian. I know this wouldn't bother some people but it would me.

There appears to be a professional make up artist with this name too.

Thoughts please?

It's awful.

I'm not keen on Christabel either but at least it's an actual name.

Snowflake15 · 19/04/2015 15:40

I'm sorry but it sounds like a stripper name

It does look a bit, um, trashy spelled like that. To me. But if you love it, that doesn't matter.

redcapsforteeth · 19/04/2015 15:43

Yes. Why?

I don't take to your preferred spelling.

But think Christabel is great (I think of the Coleridge poem)

Excitedforxmas · 19/04/2015 15:44

It sounds like a donkey on Blackpool beach sorry

GlitzAndGigglesx · 19/04/2015 15:48

It sounds awful but then I was told I have no taste because I like Crystal for a name which is halfway there. It did make me think of Clarabel (sp?) which doesn't sound as bad

glittertits · 19/04/2015 16:14

I know one, aged 20 at Cambridge.

On paper I hate the name, but it works very well on her. She spells it Christabel though.

JasperDamerel · 19/04/2015 16:21

I like Christabel, but really don't line your spelling.

Joan0fArk · 19/04/2015 16:24

I love christabel but crystabel is too carrington crystal meth

Joan0fArk · 19/04/2015 16:26

Ps i wouldnt assume a christabel's parents were religious. If u r jewish though i get it.

Kundry · 19/04/2015 16:28

Christabel is lovely, Chrystabel is someone having a DNA test on an American talkshow.

I don't think people would especially associate Christabel with being Christian.

glittertits · 19/04/2015 16:36

Do people assume all Christophers are Christian?

JasperDamerel · 19/04/2015 17:02

I think that while people wouldn't assume that a Christopher was Christian, many parents prefer to give a name which has a significant meaning to them, and Christ-bearer is unlikely to be something which appeals. I love the name Christopher, but didn't give it to my son because of the meaning.

squoosh · 19/04/2015 17:41

Christabel Pankhurst and Christabel Bielenberg say 'no' to Crystabel.

They think it looks a bit tacky.

Totality22 · 19/04/2015 17:59

Spell it properly although it is still awful - sorry

sweetpeame · 19/04/2015 19:09

I don't like the name or the spelling. It might be ok as a name for a little girl but doesn't work for a grown women IMO. And the spelling you're proposing looks very made up.

CruCru · 21/04/2015 19:29

I'm not keen. One thing to bear in mind is that "-bel" names sound more like "-bewl" in some accents - would this annoy you?

twirlypoo · 21/04/2015 19:33

I'm really sorry but it's really not my Cup of tea. I think of it as a strippers name Blush

SanctimoniousItches · 21/04/2015 19:38

I would assume that a Christopher (or a Christina or a Christabel) was not Jewish anyway. Just that much.

I wouldn't assume that their parents were religious though.

SanctimoniousItches · 21/04/2015 19:39

bewl?

What accent would that be Confused

IvoryMadonna · 21/04/2015 19:44

Do you celebrate Christmas in any way at all, OP? Give or receive presents, go to parties, indulge in special treats, that sort of thing?

redcapsforteeth · 21/04/2015 19:54

Yes but that's not s child's name. Two different things entirely.

squoosh · 21/04/2015 20:02

I can see why the Christ part of the name would be off-putting for some people. I've always thought Christian is quite a strange name.

I'd look for a new name though rather than plumping for Crystabel.
