Martha?

I know that it isn't an obvious diminutive.

We love Tess, but sounds weird with our one syllable surname. Martha is a family name.

I don't see it I'm afraid. I do like Tess on it's own.

burgatroyd · 17/04/2015 17:17

Nope, I don't see it either

I think my dm used to have a friend called Tessa. Which itself is short for Theresa? Would that work?

BrambleBee · 17/04/2015 17:23

I think Tess can be a nn for Esther, if you want an alternative.

ICantDecideOnAUsername · 17/04/2015 17:23

Or could you used Tess as a middle name? Martha Tess ??? and just call her that?

Sophronia · 17/04/2015 17:59

How about Tessa nn Tess?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 17/04/2015 19:42

Hmm Teresa or Esther I think but not usually Martha.

How about Therese or Estella?

Allthatnonsense · 17/04/2015 22:40

Estelle! Genius! Thank you!

We can't have Elizabeth and DH not keen on Esther, but Estelle could totally work!

Tesni is a Welsh name pronounced Tess knee, meaning sunshine or warmth

squoosh · 17/04/2015 22:56

Estelle/Tess makes more sense than Martha/Tess.

Estelle is a lovely name.

ceebelle83 · 19/04/2015 21:03

Tess is a perfectly lovely name in it's own right.

timelyreminder · 19/04/2015 21:43

I can't see any connection between the two, sorry.

KERALA1 · 20/04/2015 21:15

Strange link rather tenuous. Fab name in its own right
