Have heard the name Isla described as all 3 on another thread (sorry this isn't actually a TAAT)

It got me to thinking what other names could end up being faddy.

I think Freya fits the bill also. I am sure there are loads more

[incidentally I love both Isla and Freya as names!!!]

Gah - title should have read "two thousand and tensie names" as in a name of the 2010's onwards.

There seem to have been a very large number of Finns.

Girls are Evie and Sophie (and variants)

Totality22 · 02/04/2015 13:05

Gosh sorry about the other typo in the title - should read generational

MN, when are you going to add an edit function???

although this doesn't excuse me not being able to type properly to begin with

Isla has been around since the 1800s and been popular in Scotland for a long time its just become more popular outside Scotland recently.
Freya goes back to Norse mythology.
I think surnames as first names will date and names ending in "den" eg Jayden etc

queentroutoftrouts · 02/04/2015 13:08

I think Amelia, Oscar and names that are doubled with a May or a Rose.

TheJiminyConjecture · 02/04/2015 13:08

I don't think there will be any obvious Sharon and Tracey names for the children of this generation. There are just so many different names.

RainbowInACloud · 02/04/2015 13:09

Definitely Stanley, Alfie, Betty, Elsie type names.
They were really dated when I was younger and will probably the old age names of the next generation.

vickibee · 02/04/2015 13:12

Evie and Courtney for girls
ALfie for boys

There are dozens in my son's school

My era there were lots of Susans, Andrews, Kevins and Rebeccas

stardusty5 · 02/04/2015 13:12

ThroughThickandThin · 02/04/2015 13:30

I think any name where you don't know anyone of that name in their 20,s, 30's, 40's, 50's. So not for me Oliver, Rose, Amelia. I know quite a few of all ages.

For me it would be Kayden, Jayden, as very modern. And names like Stanley, Sidney which although arent modern lost their popularity for a few decades and have reappeared very recently.

funnyossity · 02/04/2015 13:35

I don't know a single Oliver or Amelia / Amelie over 10. Names can be quite regional too ime.

ThroughThickandThin · 02/04/2015 13:39

South East england here funny. I'm 50 have two great mates who are Oliver's and a mil who is Amelia!

Lots of ds1 friends are Oliver's aged 19/20.

funnyossity · 02/04/2015 13:43

Spent last 20 years in Scotland and North of England. Isla doesn't seem so faddy to me as Amelia!

Lweji · 02/04/2015 13:47

Anything younike.

WindYourBobbinUp · 02/04/2015 13:50

Possibly the "ee" boys names e.g. Alfie, Archie
Flower girls names, Poppy, Lily, Rosie
Max, so many Max's but I've only ever met babies / small kids called it

I like those names, as I do the Karen's and Lindsey's of my age group. I think with most names apart from the classics that stay popular e.g. James, you can have a good guess at age

BikeRunSki · 02/04/2015 13:54

Noah
Amelia
Jackson
Jensen
Lexi
Erin
Hebry

funnyossity · 02/04/2015 13:55

Noah - the only one I know over 5 is in the Bible.

Jackieharris · 02/04/2015 13:58

All the ones in the top 10!

Esp Archie, all the variants of Eva/Ava, Noah, Sophie/Matilda, variants of Abbie, Mia, grandparent type names, neaveh, American surnames type names like Mason and Madison.

DianeLockhart · 02/04/2015 15:25

Freya is definitely not a 2010+ name. It was getting popular long before that.

ThroughThickandThin · 02/04/2015 15:36

Ds3 was going to be Freya if he'd been a girl. He's 15 now. I wouldn't chose it now if I had a baby (impossible!), not quite so keen on it.

Floggingmolly · 02/04/2015 15:41

Oscar, Noah, Xanthe.

NadiaWadia · 02/04/2015 16:17

Ava, definitely. Hyphenated names such as Ava-Grace, Mia-Rose, Sophia-May etc. Even though the names themselves are nice (or would be without the hyphens, which I dislike). For boys Fin or Finley, and Alfie. There are already several of these, even within my own extended family. Why can't people be a bit original?

Sophronia · 02/04/2015 16:19

Names hyphenated with -May/Mae/Mai, -Rose, -Grace etc.

Isla, Freya, Evie, Poppy, Ruby, Elsie, Lily, Ava, Ellie, Millie, Mia, Lexi, Tilly, Darcey, Orla, Scarlett, Amelia, Violet

Reuben, Finley, Teddy, Arlo, Alfie, Archie, Oscar, Finn, Noah, Ethan, Dexter, Riley, Logan, Jenson, Kai, Elijah, Theo
