Changing names! (Girls)

I've always loved the name Evelyn for a girl. After we discovered we were having a girl at 20 weeks my husband and I started to refer to her as Evelyn or 'evie'. Since then it seems every little girl we meet is called Evie or Evelyn (but Evie especially) and it's really putting me off that it's too popular! I like the name Primrose but my husband thinks it's too late to change her name as we have been calling her Evie for weeks!! Anyone else do this? Also any name inspiration would be appreciated x

I'm not sure from your post, but if your baby hasn't been born yet then your DP is being a bit daft!!

Even if she has been born, you have until their first birthday to change their birth certificate without any issues!

Thank you! Yes she's not born yet so I feel the same but we have bought a couple of wall decorations that say 'Evelyn' but nothing too expensive! He just says he's so use to the name now it feels strange to change it x

Im going to do it, I had name since about 10 weeks, probably going to change it not at 33 weeks. At first it was weird but now its fine.

You can always use Evelyn as middle name.

We thought DS was going to be a certain name (had a girls and boys name lined up) but when he was born it just wasn't his name. Lots of people change up to and after the birth

Yes, I did this three weeks ago, we were set on calling DD2 Edith, Edie for short, but I changed my mind at 37 weeks and she was born at 38. She now has a different name. My DH was keener on the original name but came round. I felt Edith was a bit harsh and I kept hearing Edie so wanted something else.

Of course you can change it. Maybe keep Evelyn as a mn (it's lovely)

Primrose is nice, also maybe

Rosabel
Phoebe
Evangeline

Of course I agree. Change it!

We changed my son's name when he was 4 months old! It took a while for everyone to get used to it, but now people hardly remember. Just do it. Your husband will get used to it!

Primrose is lovely- it's not too late the baby isn't here yet.
Would your dh want to change it? Primrose Evelyn is lovely.
Or if you did call her Evelyn maybe stick to Evelyn lots if Evie's round here that are just 'Evie' not heard Evelym though

We called bump two Ezzie (for Ezra) for weeks before dd was born, whereupon we needed a new name for her :) It was a bit weird for a while and the girls name we had picked out but not expected to use took a little while to 'take' but it was no big deal really.

Talk it over some more with your dh and find a new name that you both love.

Ham69 · 30/03/2015 07:37

Do it! No big deal if she's not been born yet. Love Primrose.
