Sibling for Fearne, nice names in ni accent?

Newly pregnant with dc2. We're Scottish living in northern ireland so struggling to find a name that isn't swallowed whole by the accent (2 syllables names tend to merge into 1)
Can you think of any nice names that are clear in both accents? Prefer something short like Fearne, nothing ending in an ie/y sound. Surname 2 syllables ending ey.
Hope someone can think of something nice for us as it's totally beyond my brain at the minute!

Some lovely suggestions so far, thank you! Much harder naming number 2 as dd's little friends have already spoken for a lot of my fav names. Love maeve/maya!

Rowan for either?

Keir
Cormac
Torin

Lorna
Kirsten
Laurel

Absolutely love Rowan. Was def up there but I just know my family would mispronounce it like row as in brow-an. Could make it crystal clear from the start I suppose but it does drive me nuts that so many pronounce Fearne as Ferin.. Sigh..

Row (as in boat) or Row as in Brow are both legitimate pronunciations - I probably prefer B row- an way actually :)

Willilovethisbabyasmuchasmydog · 26/03/2015 22:19

It would drive me crazy having it pronounced differently though. All must say it the same! Who's idea was it to have accents anyway..

ha ha - you need to find the thread about Farrah as the poster there is in the same boat as you - Scottish accent and living in N Ireland :)

Willilovethisbabyasmuchasmydog · 27/03/2015 07:47

I used to really like the northern Irish accent too...

If the accent is an issue, I'd also avoid names with 't' in the middle as we (I'm N Irish) tend not to pronounce 't' when it's in the middle of a word.

Conversely some one syllable words can get dragged out so that they sound like two syllables!

I'll have a think...

Willilovethisbabyasmuchasmydog · 27/03/2015 08:10

Yeah Katie in a scottish accents is lovely but in n.irish is kaie.. Plus the scots add extra syllables in pearl/peril... Fearne/Ferin...
It's really tricky!

Beth
Tess
Eve
Faith
Joy

Those would probably sound ok with the accent.

Ross
Luke
James
Ben
Liam

I think short boys names will be easier to think of than short girls names...

OneMagnumisneverenough · 27/03/2015 10:01

Andrew
Gregor

Carys
Cara

Willilovethisbabyasmuchasmydog · 27/03/2015 20:47

Thank you for the suggestions! One syllable is the way forward I think! I love Beth although a friend has a Bethany.. So not sure if she would be annoyed at me using Beth..
Maeve and Eve on the list though so many thanks xx

Willilovethisbabyasmuchasmydog · 27/03/2015 21:40

I love Rowan, my family are a nightmare and would pronounce it wrong, I can see it now!!
