With ds1 I'd already started suggesting names I liked. All vetoed. Then went for a meal with extended family and dh's uncle started saying how he would have called a little boy . Few weeks later dh said he'd been thinking and had really grown on him.
Ds2 was a suprise agreement from a baby names book.
Dd was dh's suggestion. I couldn't find an alternative that he'd accept so let him get his way. He loves her name.

Yep, waited til they were stitching up my section and told him DDs name. He wasn't going to disagree after witnessing the whole EMCS and if he had I would have sent him down to the messy end

I picked my dc's names when I was a child myself, both after characters in my favourite books. When choosing DD's name I convinced her dad that he had suggested the name I wanted, thereby allowing him to think he had chosen her name and also getting my own way. When I had DS a year later I reminded him that he had chosen DD's name so it was my turn, and I got my own way again. Selfish, but I don't care!

If he is just stonewalling and then coming up with stupid names, and failing to see that naming the baby is important to you , then stop the manipulation, tell him off for his failure, and insist he takes you and your feelings about this seriously.

If there is a name that you really like, then tell him this is the name. Don't listen to any more of his stupid suggestions and don't bother trying to include him in the process.
