Names I might like? Really struggling

Currently 39 weeks with DC2 and don't know whether it's a girl or boy. Already have a 5yo DS called William Jude. I think we have almost settled on Alice if we have a girl, probably with Jane as a middle name, but I cannot find any boys names I like. I'm irrationally worried that a boy will end up nameless forever because I seem to say no to every idea Sad

In a bid to get the ball rolling, I think any if these would go well with William:

David
Adam
Daniel
Matthew
Alexander
Luke

Tubbytimmy · 16/03/2015 12:39

George
Oscar
Thomas
James
Ben
Jake
Joseph
Jonathan

AlfAlf · 16/03/2015 12:43

Jonathan, but not shortened. I know a teenage Jonathan and a grown up, they both use the full name.
Felix
Joseph
Benjamin
Jacob

Cross posted with tubbytimmy :)

I prefer Alicia pr Alice-ea to Alice. Alice is too trendy an 'in wonderland' for me.

William feels similar to

Thomas
James
Richard
Christopher
Alexander
Benjamin
Sebastian
Nathan
Owen
Percy

Type names to me

Just not Harry/Henry!

RL20 · 16/03/2015 13:47

I'm exactly the same! I'm expecting a baby boy in 5 weeks and throughout I have only like about 3 names. Every suggestion someone's gives is just a no! I've searched most websites and googled nearly every baby boy name phrase you could think of!

Freddie
Frankie
Rafael
Oliver
Mason
Theodore

Good luck!

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 16/03/2015 14:51

Peter
Thomas
Sebastian
Rowan
Joshua
Jem
Oliver
Owen

Thank you all so much for your help, it's so hard! Most of the names above are either family names or kids in DS's class at school and have already been struck off the list, the only one that I don't mind is Oliver, but I don't love it.

I really don't like Alicia for a girl, sorry. Have an irrational aversion to girls names ending in a, y or i sounds. I think I'm just too fussy Blush

For classic names that go with William:
Edward
Charles (Charlie!)
James
Alexander

FunkyPeacock · 16/03/2015 15:33

Samuel
Alexander
Hugo/Hugh
Ralph

Btw - I agree with you, MUCH prefer Alice to Alicia!

AugustaGloop · 16/03/2015 15:36

I don't think you should rule out a name just because there are boys in your son's with that name. Particularly if you like fairly popular names like William.

Lancelottie · 16/03/2015 15:38

Robin/Robert
Patrick
Francis
Tim

Perissa · 16/03/2015 15:43

Sorry Augusta I didn't mean I have discounted them solely on the basis that they are in son's class. Just that they have already been suggested because we know people with the name, and discounted because I don't particularly like them.

Maybe I just cross my fingers and hope that we have a girl Grin

Edward
Edmund
Alfred
Stephan
Benedict
Gerard

If DD had been a boy she would have been called Raoul. You're welcome to have that name -- but I'm not sure that goes so well with William!

I had DDs but my potential boy's names were Ben(jamin), Rory, James and Charlie. We were struggling a bit with Charlie though as I do not like and DH does not like shortened names on birth certificates.

AugustaGloop · 16/03/2015 17:14

I do not like "Charles"

sosix · 16/03/2015 17:18

Louis

I can't believe Alice has become trendy! It's my mum's name and I'd love to use it for my as yet hypothetical DD. She never met another Alice until she was about 20!

William is a lovely name, OP. I'd be tempted to go for another classic, like Joseph, Robert, Peter or Alexander.
