Baby is a girl :) come July I will have a second daughter.

I am still struggling for names. She will have a brother called Edward and a sister called Flora.

My first thought was 'is it a real name?'

It's a lovely sounding name but suspect you would have to do a lot of correcting

How about Marianne or Mariella?

mrssmith79 · 10/03/2015 21:44

It's lovely Smile

akorda · 10/03/2015 21:45

Mariana is too fussy IMO

What about the lovely , classic Mary (woefully underused these days!) or the slightly prettier Maria.

Have never met an under-5 with one of these names!

Congratulations btw!

DramaAlpaca · 10/03/2015 21:46

It's lovely.

I also really like Marianne.

turquoiseamethyst · 10/03/2015 21:47

I don't like Mariella. Marianne is quite nice but I don't like Marion and they sound too similar.

Not really a fan of Mary or Maria :)

Yes!

MaudeLebowski · 10/03/2015 21:48

I really don't like it, way too fussy for my taste.

SpooneriseShinyTights · 10/03/2015 21:49

Too fussy and flowery.

Edward and Flora are ace though.

Elfontheedge · 10/03/2015 21:49

I... Like the Mariana Trench? (Sorry)

LizzieMint · 10/03/2015 21:51

My first thought was, only if your surname is Trench but Elf beat me to it.

mupperoon · 10/03/2015 21:51

Not made up! Tennyson. Mariana in the moated grange.

Very pretty name but not an ideal role model especially for MN tastes! She just sat around letting the place go to wrack and ruin whilst sighing over some lying git.

DishwasherDogs · 10/03/2015 21:52

I thought of the trench too, sorry.
Marianne is lovely, but pronounced marry Anne rather than like Marion.

blondegirl73 · 10/03/2015 21:53

LOVE Mariana - it's the name of one of my favourite paintings by John Everett Millais. It's from Measure for Measure and also a poem by Tennyson, though the fictional Mariana isn't very lucky.

turquoiseamethyst · 10/03/2015 21:53

Don't know who Mariana Trench is, sorry :)

But I do love Tennyson's poetry and I am not naming her Maud Grin

Sounds like a pasta sauce!

WilsonWilsonWoman · 10/03/2015 21:57

sounds like a lovely pizza with anchovies and tuna on. Grin

SylvaniansAtEase · 10/03/2015 21:57

No. It just sounds a tiny bit made up, though it's not, and fussy rather than classic. It will always be misspelled, unlike your other two.

Marianne would be perfect, very dignified and classic and goes well with your others. How about Melissa? Very underused, and lovely with Flora.

Willabywallaby · 10/03/2015 21:58

I know a Venezuelan woman called Mariana, lovely name.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 10/03/2015 21:59

Am I the only one who thinks it sounds exactly like Marijuana? Confused

turquoiseamethyst · 10/03/2015 21:59

I'm not really keen on Melissa - it sounds "hard" somehow.

Well DD1 was named after butter so just continuing the food tradition Hmm (pizza?)

OP posts:
DishwasherDogs · 10/03/2015 22:01

Is dd1 called Lurpak? (Sorry! :o)

soontobemumofthree · 10/03/2015 22:01

I do really like Edward and Flora (I know that's not the question)

I love the name Anna.

DishwasherDogs · 10/03/2015 22:02

Bugger, just read the op properly :o
Flora is a gorgeous name, the crappy butter substitute doesn't even register against the name.

SylvaniansAtEase · 10/03/2015 22:06

Oh goodness, marijuana. You can't call her that, no. It does sound exactly the same!

Anna would indeed fit perfectly with both, and it is lovely.

LizzieMint · 10/03/2015 22:08

Mariana Trench is an actual trench, it's the deepest part of the planet, in the middle of the pacific.

Agree with pp that Anna is a lovely name and goes beautifully with your other two.
