Stuck on boys names

So we have Miller, we chose it not only because it's uncommon but because it's my FIL's middle name. We also have Ottilie which is pronounced like Ophelia but with T's which was my Nan's name. We have exhausted immediate family names as middle names so have a completely clean slate.

For a girl my top name is Vesper, possibly Melody or Summer. For a boy I have nothing. We want something that's not in the top 100 names, something uncommon but not made up or weird.

What about using surnames, such as your mother's or MIL's maiden names?

Or how about foreign names that are easy to pronounce, such as:
Mads
Arne (pron. Ar-NUH^)
Stefan
Florian
Urban
Remy
Anders
Otto
Anton
Kiefer
Egon
Yael
Bruno
Jerome
Marcel

Super-old names, like:
Alaric
Ulric
Wulfstan (giving the nice nicknames Wolfie or Stan)
Alwin
Bron
Arden
Grey (still quite common in Scotland)
Kenelm

Random selection of names I quite like:
Jensen
Thaddeus
Gregor
Victor

Conrad
Wreford
Kenzie
Torin
Caedmon
Bede

I have thought about surnames, I did quite like Turner for a while but not sure what would go with it for a middle name. It's my 'step' Grandad's surname, very long story but no-one not even my Nan took his name, but in doing so I could quite possibly upset my other Grandad a lot by doing that, as neither of his names are my thing.

We actually live in Germany now, and I thought about Felix, but cat food springs to mind and Felix is in the top 100 names here. I do quite like Jenson, but hubby is a MASSIVE F1 fan and it feel a bit cheesy.

Unfortunately I already know a Stefan, Florian, Remy, Anders, Otto, Anton
Jerome and Marcel none of which I'd want people to think I'd name a son after. We also know a Conrad, which made me giggle, as he was the most prolific customer where I used to work.

I do quite like Grey though, especially if it has a rooted history as a name, but that might be a confusing as hubby is a Gary.

I love the name Melody!

Anyway, from another persons post 'Reign' is a great name! Also Cooper, too.
I'm expecting a baby boy in April and we still haven't agreed on a name Grin
My top favourites have always been Freddie, Max, Theo (not Theodore though), or, Spanish alternatives to credit the Spanish in my family.. 'Teo' normally short for Mateo but I didn't really like that, or my current favourite Ruben. Spelled different to the more common Hebrew version 'Reuben'.
If you download the Mothercare app on your phone there's a category on there with quite a wide variety of names Grin

My nephew knows a Davis, which is quite cool.
I like Thiago too.
What about Andre?
Carson
Gil or Gilbert
Conall
Cyrus
Gavin
Nicol
Darius
Ainsley
Sinclair
Calder
Alban
Fabian
Godwin
Ivor
Jasper
Maxwell
Selwyn
Spencer
Vere

Melody would be Melody Rae, but I can't get the Cbeebies program Melody and it's theme tune out of the head, it drives me nuts for some reason.

I think we have far too many people in our lives, My nephew is Maxwell and another nephew is Freddie, Cousin called Matteo, and Theodore is my nickname for my Grandad. I do like Cooper but does that sound more like it should be for a dog? I do like Archer though

Stan
Milo
Jude
Cormac
Conrad
Rex
Beckett

What do people think to Sailor? It's a German name, I am half German, my Dad is German, we live in Germany, and it means Boat man, and my Dad used to build boats which is a nice link.

Nice, connection. Do you live in Germany or UK?

I'm sure a celebrity has just used the name recently

Excitingtimesahead · 10/03/2015 20:48

Liv Taylor. Actor/model

akorda · 10/03/2015 21:11

Otis
Morgan
Sylvan (love this!)
Saul
Asher

I know one of each but no more - pretty sure none are in top 100

Grannycrabapple · 10/03/2015 21:22

Like the majority of suggestions but I'm personally not keen on Cooper or Rae

sugarplumfairy28 · 10/03/2015 21:24

We moved to Germany last year, but still using English forums etc as my German isn't great. Trying to find a name that not only do we like but is uncommon and can be pronounced by Germans just seems really difficult.

In that case if you like the name and it had a personal connection not only to you on a personal level but to where you are living. Go for it
