I liked the name Honour for DD1 (now 39 wks with DC3) I went off it when having DD2 but have come back to it lately.

Is it classic & beautiful or silly/awful?

My two DD's names are both classic/olden names, would it go?

I like it but isn't it usually Honor as a name?

MephistophelesApprentice · 06/03/2015 14:50

It's totally awesome, but I should warn you that it's also the name of a female starship admiral in a popular series of science fiction books.

I love Honor, spelt this way though. Its on our list for potential dd2.

TempsPerdu · 06/03/2015 15:10

Love it, but only spelt Honor. One of my very favourite girls' names. Think it strikes a good balance between being classic and unusual.

Bowlersarm · 06/03/2015 15:12

Honor is lovely.

AnythingNotEverything · 06/03/2015 15:13

I like it.

Anaffaquine · 06/03/2015 15:16

I love it. I have a Hope though so that would be too much for another baby.

MaraThonbar · 06/03/2015 15:18

It's Honor, and it's lovely.

Paintedpinksapphires · 06/03/2015 15:24

Honor is very pretty.

HubertCumberdale · 06/03/2015 15:33

It sounds like 'on her' and would be easy to tease.

eg did you get honor?

HattyMonkey · 06/03/2015 15:35

One of my favourite names sadly vetoed for dd1&dd2.

hidingunderthebed · 06/03/2015 15:38

My dd's name so I love it. As a name though the spelling is Honor :)

M1985 · 06/03/2015 16:12

I assumed Honor was the American spelling and that it would be spelled like the word (English spelling)?
Ideally I want a name to be 6 letters as both my daughters names have 6 letters

It's really lovely. But as a name it's always spelt Honor, even in the UK.

M1985 · 06/03/2015 17:02

I've seen it spelled that way but it just looks wrong to me, looks like it's spelled incorrectly to me

PotteringAlong · 06/03/2015 17:02

I agree; beautiful but definitely Honor.

PotteringAlong · 06/03/2015 17:11

I promise it's not! If you spell it honour she will spend her whole life with people going Hmm and having to say "no, there's a u in it..."

sleepyhead · 06/03/2015 17:12

What about Honora? (It's always spelt Honor)

squoosh · 06/03/2015 17:14

A very English Honor.

Bowlersarm · 06/03/2015 17:50

Honour is a word.

Honor is a (rather lovely) girls name.

Please don't spell it wrongly.

treaclesoda · 06/03/2015 17:59

I like it. But spelt Honor.

Although weirdly, the only Honour I have ever known did spell it like the word 'Honour' and I've never thought of it before until I read this thread.

RJnomore · 06/03/2015 18:12

If you want six letters, what about honora?

shakemysilliesout · 06/03/2015 18:31

I know someone who thought Anna in frozens name was honor because of the way they say it.

M1985 · 06/03/2015 18:56

Not keen on Honora, unfortunately. Usually I hate names spelled wrong but Honor just looks American & mis-spelt to me, perhaps it's not going to be a contender for that reason.
Shame, cuz I really like it.

I don't think if it was spelt Honour she would end up spelling it all the time because it's an unusual name that I think people won't nesessarily have come across before, certainly where I live and I think people would assume it's spelt like the work, I may be wrong but just my opinion.
