Which name would you pick and why?

To go with siblings Charlie (boy) and Tilly. (These are their names)

Thank you

Tess, I think it's more classic and prefer it. Tessa and Tilly is cute, but I think Tess and Tilly is just a bit less matchy

Notso · 19/02/2015 11:23

Tessa, I think it's a bit more grown up and always has the option to be Tess.

Although I'm not sure I'd use Tessa and Tilly together.

Sophronia · 19/02/2015 11:26

I like Tessa with Tess as a nickname.

maggiethemagpie · 19/02/2015 13:18

I always thought Tessa was the full name and Tess the nickname. That way you can keep your options open. My son is called a 'full name' on his BC and I've only ever called him the shortened version (unless he is being very, very naughty!) but like to have the option for him to revert to the longer name when he is older.

Tess - it's one of my favourite names, but strangely I really dislike Tessa ( it screams 1980s TV personality to me).

Tisiphone · 19/02/2015 14:09

Isn't Tess/Tessa a short form of Teresa? I'm afraid it always reminds me of 'Ten Ton Tess' and bombs. And minor characters in Enid Blyton school stories, who always seemed to be called Tessie and Winnie, and we're just there to make up the numbers.

reuset · 19/02/2015 14:29

Yep, both Tess and Tessa short for Theresa.

I don't like nick names as full name personally, but it's your choice

Tessa, then it can be shortened to Tess if you/she wants to.

I love it.

And I think it goes perfectly with the other names.

Howaboutthisone · 19/02/2015 15:03

I really like Tess!

pilates · 19/02/2015 16:08

Tess, but it is quite similar to Tilly.

dreamingofsun · 19/02/2015 17:27

teresa, or maybe terese, is the full name which is what i would put on the birth certicate - may have spelt wrong. i like tessa - would have been one of my choices if i'd had girls, but may get shortened to tess which is also lovely

Leeds2 · 19/02/2015 17:30

Prefer Tess to Tessa, but not sure I would use Tess with Tilly.

Dogsmom · 19/02/2015 20:04

I prefer Tess, in this area Tessa is short for testicles and I've heard my brother and his friends mention their 'Tessa's' way too many times. Hmm

DramaAlpaca · 19/02/2015 20:26

Tess is lovely.

GingerLDN · 19/02/2015 20:53

Tess flows better with the other names

bexibean · 19/02/2015 22:21

Tess, and it's lovely. Does make me think of the Durbervilles but no name is without associations!

Charlie, Tilly and Tess sound like lovely kids!

momb · 19/02/2015 22:26

Register her Theresa and call her the diminutive. Tess and Tessa are both lovely and if you register the full name she can choose later, whatever you call her as a child.

wesH · 20/02/2015 10:24

NEITHER

ChristmasEveSteve · 20/02/2015 11:33

Tessa :)

squoosh · 20/02/2015 12:12

Tess.

DarylDixonsDarlin · 20/02/2015 12:18

I'd go with Teresa, and shorten it as you wish. Even Teresa varies in pronunciation though, in my family it's 'Teraysa', others when meeting our family say 'Tereesa' or my mothers personal most hated Grin, 'Treesa'.

squoosh · 20/02/2015 12:21

Teresa is so religious though. And not even religious and pretty.

AnythingNotEverything · 20/02/2015 12:36

I also prefer Tess (current bump may yet be Esther nn Tess).

I wouldn't use either with Tilly though.

Isambardot · 20/02/2015 14:17

Tessa, because it works better with your other names
All are more informal than Tess.
