Thanks everyone. These aren't our only names -- we have discussed others but this list contains a few A ones we did like with some feasible alternatives. Others we've discussed that don't start with A are

Frances
Dorothy
Leonora
Harriet

I'm feeling a bit lost. We haven't found the perfect name yet!

I love Aurora - Rory for short Smile

rosepetalsoup · 19/02/2015 13:22

Maybe someone can help me. I like names that are real names, and not recently made up, but also which are unusual. Unusual, classic names. I feel in a pickle about it (and also am quite pregnant).

I already have a DD with a name very similar to Matilda - I'm trying to find something that goes but isn't too matchy!

OP posts:
diddl · 19/02/2015 14:53

I like Harriet.

Lucia?

StayGoldPonyBoy · 19/02/2015 14:56

Aurora is Sleeping Beauty to me, it doesn't sound like a real name, similar to BelleGrin

I like Astrid and Anya. DD is Ingrid because DH didn't like Astrid, and I didn't like his favourite, India, so we kind of mashed them togetherWink

Agree with the Aurora opinions, I would probably make the wild assumption that someone calling their child that never really grew out of wanting to be a Disney princess.

Aurelia, on the other hand, is top of our list.

Showy · 19/02/2015 21:23

Josephine. DS would have been Josephine. Beautiful nicknames (Sephie, Josie, Jo, Phin), classical, not overused.

InQuiteAPickle · 19/02/2015 21:26

Annabelle
Aurora and Anya.

I love all three but Aurora is a bit "Disney Princessy".

marshmallowpies · 19/02/2015 21:29

Love Astrid
Anya is nice

Not any of the others, sorry.

rosepetalsoup · 20/02/2015 10:11

But I had never heard of the Disney princess! Do you not think people get their references from all over the place? I first thought of the poem Aurora Leigh or the northern lights. But it's useful feedback.
